Was looking for something new for dinner so we saw this highly rated spot & decided to try it. So happy we did!!! Hands down the best yellow coconut curry i’ve ever had, the spice is definitely there but they manage to keep that amazing flavor. The miso charred edamame was absolutely phenomenal, 10/10. Not to mention the menu is so reasonably priced for the very big portions you get. The entrees are all big enough for 2. The service was amazing, the staff is so nice & attentive. & Last but not least, the decor of the place is so cute!!! It’s such a vibe on inside. Will definitely be returning!!!

This is the best place to have a cozy meal. I have never met a kinder staff, and the food is accessible, to die for.Hibachi or stir fry are a good choice but the butter sauce wings are soooooooo amazingI am lucky enough to live nearby, the restaurant outdoor dining in a legendary neighborhood or East and State st

I have been craving for Indonesian food and I finally visited this restaurant in New Haven. I was smitten by the high ratings and good reviews. I ordered the following for take out:1. Beef rendang - at $19 and one, yes just one big cube of beef, it is way too expensive. I felt I was ripped off. The sauce was "okay" but I believe it tasted a bit far from what I have tasted in Singapore and Indonesia where the original version came from.2. Spicy buttered chicken - I was shocked this came out too dark, too crispy and too saucy which was very different from the photo in the menu. It tasted good though but it was not spicy as I was expecting so my kids loved it. They should correct the photo in the online menu to meet the customer's expectation.3. Nasi Goreng with beef - This also failed the mark for me. There was not even a traditional sauce provided. It tasted good but it tasted similar to a Thai beef basil fried rice without the basil. I wished there was a topping of a fried egg would have made a big difference too!4. Egg Fried Rice - same taste as the Nasi Goreng with just the eggs mixed with it and way smaller portion.Thank God I did not order the buntut soup as I imagine it now having small portions of the oxtail and paying $25. I do not highly recommend this restaurant but if you want to taste the food for a change, go ahead.Lastly, their take out containers do not seal and close properly and the beef rendang sauce dripped inside the paper bag. I was disappointed really so I will not be going back.

As an Indonesian visiting New Haven, we can say that this restaurant offers legit authentic halal Indonesian food. Delicious taste and generous portion. We recommend the toka curry and bihun goreng. The owner is so friendly and the service is excellent. My family is very satisfied and wish we could go back again one day.

Food was so good! I got the red curry. It was great. Servers were very nice. Food was a bit slow to come out, but I was excited once it came. Food is on the more expensive side, but still quite reasonable.
The food is awesome! The service was welcoming. Can’t wait to come back to New Haven for another good experience at toka.
