Cross Sound Ferry (New London)

Best way to travel & avoid driving......enjoy breakfast, lunch or snacks while enjoying the scenery. Walk on or drive on....a great ride. Pets are welcome & have a separate area to enjoy with their owners.

Horrible parking job. Unable to even get into our cars

They were an hour and 20 minutes late. The windows are dirty so you can't even see outside. Food takes forever. Take the other ferry

Love taking this ferry. It makes for an extended vacation. I'd much rather be having a beer on the water than driving through the city.

Timely and easy on easy off

Tuesday November 11, 2025 will go down as one of the most traumatic ferry rides of our lives. There was no warning of the rough waters leaving the New England port and once we left the harbor the ferry was tossed around for 1 hour and 30 min! A fear everyone could have been given the heads up on. I would confidently have driven around had we been warned. People were puking all over, water was splashing over the ferry, it was rocking side to side and then huge loud bangs when it would hit a wave, car alarms going off! It was literally a nightmare. I never write reviews but feel that this ride and level of torture for all of the passengers should be acknowledged. Not one crew member came over the system to inform us if we were ok, or if this would be the entire ride. When crew members passed by we had asked if this was ok and they continued along ignoring our question. We were so scared and could have used a bit of awareness that this is somehow normal to them. Clearly it was not! If making money is this important over the safety of the passengers than New England You NEED to do BETTER! We literally thought we were going over.

This was a great and inexpensive way to travel the sound. Just for fun. Food on board was pretty good too.

Nice choice to have a trip. Especially if you travel with pets, they have a designated area for them. The only thing was on our way back to LI. I needed to stay in the car because l was not feeling well due to an issue with my leg. The person from the crew didn't let me, and l had to climb a long flight of stairs (which it was my hardest thing to do). I had too much pressure trying to get out of the car and getting my pets out as well. Then, l had to go up on the stairs. They should be more considerate with people with disabilities or other health issues.
