Friendly, efficient and way better than driving all the way around.

Great trip.

Reservation recommended. Old boats. Unfriendly crew. Crew disappeared once left dock. Food expensive. One boat was in WW2.

Bad experience. Nowhere to sit. Everybody has his belongings on the seat as if they own the boat. Sorry for the one star.

I’ve taken Cross Sound Ferry for many years, and unfortunately the pricing has gone up substantially, to the point of being prohibitively expensive for many. A round trip ticket for a car, driver and 1 passenger is now $200. The “base” price is $4 cheaper, but good luck finding a ferry date that isn’t greyed out for that option. The rewards program has been whittled down in several ways- previously there were many rewards/discounted rides, now they are few and far between. You can accrue rewards dollars at a snail’s pace, but guess what? You can only use them on off-peak rides- again, few and far between. Adult tickets start at age 12+ (huh?) so for a family of four, expect to pay nearly $300 round trip. Better plan ahead if you’d like to save 10% using a prepaid debit $400 Captain’s card, those take 10-14 days to arrive and can only be used once it’s in hand. It’s a shame because the service is solid and the ride is smooth, but it’s become an option that is too pricey for regular folks.

Excellent day on the cruise. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a lot of experience. Anyone visiting Southern Connecticut should experience this 2 hour tour.

This ferry is real. It exists. It floats. It moves. It delivers you to the other side.

It does not seek glory. It is not flashy. It asks for no praise. And yet—look at us—piling thousands of reviews onto its digital altar. As if it were a restaurant. As if it cared.

This ferry did not speak. It offered no opinion. It simply opened its mouth (the ramp) and said, “Come aboard.” I did. It delivered. Five stars.

Because in the end, a ferry only has one real job: don’t become a submarine. And this one? Mission accomplished.

If something had gone wrong, I’d tell the crew. The people on the boat. Not the algorithm. The ferry is not reading this. You are. And honestly, I’m not even sure why.

But still—five stars. Because it did its job. And that, in this world, is worth something

I was aboard the Cape Henlopen and sat at the bar. Upon arrival, our bartender Brandon immediately was attentive and extremely respectful! I ordered a beer and some soup, my boyfriend the same. He promptly put our orders in, and asked if we needed anything else. He was extremely personable, and I would 100% recommend the upstairs lounge to anyone 21+ aboard this boat!

I called customer service and went over the exact dimensions of my vehicle in great detail. The reservation was made by customer service. When I got to the ferry they said it will be an entirely different price, even though we clearly went over every dimension the day before.
Also, the way the vehicles are loaded onto the ferry like shipping containers you can clearly see how vehicles would be damaged by the slightest ocean wave.
I highly recommend to just drive to Long Island, especially with the improved highway than taking this unnecessary risk.

Easy on and off. Clean cabin and restrooms. Very convenient parking.

I was scheduled for the 0730 crossing but got to the dock early and the staff got me on the 0630 crossing. Great ride across the sound and despite the fog we were in Orient Point at 0800.
Staff and crew are great and I hope to make the crossing again next year!

Always a great experience! Friendly and helpful crew. The on board cafe has some solid options. The boat and bathrooms are always clean.
