This is a treasure. We were in Groton for a few days for work and I had to see this bar in an old Quonset hut. It is nicely renovated with a tiny kitchen at the end of the bar. This reminded me of little bars I used to go to in South Korea so I liked the place immediately. Then a few minutes after we sat down the bartender put upside cups in front of us to indicate we had free drinks when we were ready. The name is apt - the Half-Keg looks the part, as it is located in a refurbished Quonset hut - and that ambiance recommends it for those seeking a no-frills experience. The food is cheap, and you get what you pay for. Decent beer selection, which is good, since they don't serve hard alcohol.
Cheap food, great quality. Cute little place next to the liquor store, it was nice to come here after work and get to hear other people as lively as I am. Wasn’t a lot of room at the bar but it had some nice tables to seat two on the opposite side. Perfect if you’re trying to hit the krusty krab!
