We have been coming to Muddy Waters Cafe for last couple of years every Sunday. The atmosphere is lively ( college & Coast Guard students ) and although usually crowded, the line moves quickly. Great egg sandwiches on fresh bagels, pastries, sandwiches and salads. Tomato soup is delicious. The back deck is wonderful to watch activity in the harbor and Amtrack trains. Hopefully it will reopen soon after a fire in their basement . The employees are friendly and very efficient. Totally recommend if in New London.

Lovely café with a great view. The food was pretty good as well. I went back two days in a row. All staff were kind and attentive! I would bring a friend here for a nice day to have a simple but elevated lunch.

I popped in today after a doctors appointment around the corner. I ordered the Lox Bagel and an iced coffee, and, while the food and drink were really good, my experience there wasn't awesome. After paying, I made my way towards the back deck to get a seat when a man approached me and started whispering that he was homeless, starving, and needed money. I offered to purchase him a meal, but he whispered that he'd rather just have the cash. At that point I rolled my eyes and walked away. I'm not sure if he was whispering because he didn't want the staff to overhear him and throw him out, or if that's just where he hangs out, but the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth, especially since I offered to buy him food.

Great little sandwich shop with the best outdoor seating. It's near the ferry and offers great views. Solid selection of food and drink without being overwhelming. Servers are friendly. Nice little placeVegetarian options: Plenty of options for anyone that is not interested in eating meat for whatever reasonParking: Street parking is sparse and the lot fills quick. You may have to circle round a couple times depending on the time of day

Great coffee shop. I loved the old vibe, and I love the new vibe (although I wish they kept a few more of the couches). Keeps the flame alive on the Hughie's Love salad/sandwich. If you've never gotten it, get it! Basically it's a Greek salad on a crusty Italian bread roll. Also, my wife lived off of the baked goods while she was pregnant.

It's okay, but it's lost all of its charm.Seemed like the employees were miserable, customers were miserable... just everyone unhappy. This place used to be so incredibly cozy and warm feeling with a fireplace in the back, winged back chairs, and piles of books. The most welcoming atmosphere. Now it's nice, but just not the same. There's a balcony off the back and many options for food and drink, but just kind of a generic coffee shop vibe.I'd still give it 4 stars, but the staff seems... not good (like they're utterly unhappy to be there). They don't greet you when you come in; ignore you for a minute (two people just looked at me then went back to doing other things - almost like they were waiting to see which could last longer before taking my order). When I was acknowledged I was met with a "what do you need?" No hello, no sorry for the wait.I ordered "Three large, hot caramel lattes please."-"Hot or cold?"-"...hot."-"oh, right. What size?"-"...large."Then they proceeded to forget the caramel as well, which we didn't realize until we were already on the road. Also the pastries are kept refrigerated, so served coldWe used to adore this place, but no there's no darw for us to come in. We'll stick with Washington Street Coffee House from here on.

This place is absolutely, positivity outrages 100% perfection all around. The atmosphere is perfect as is all the service, food and beverages. The owners are very kind and caring people. Let's not forget all the employees hard work on a daily basis. Oh, and the manager what a good guy always has a smile on his face. This is the best place in New London for a great meal and beautiful sights of the Thames river scenery.

Nicely fixed up cafe in the heart of New London. Coffee choices excellent! Friendly service! Iced coffees were excellent! Old fashioned coffee cake was delish!

First time visiting the area and this beautiful coffee shop. Service was good despite how busy they were. While I was waiting for my coffee, my phone went off. It was a text from my wife. To my abject horror and dismay, I learned that her and my (former) buddy Steve had been sleeping together behind my back and were now taking the kids and house. My surprise ended when I heard my name called for my coffee. Finally, I sat down outside, admiring the wonderful view, determined not to let my wife’s infidelity get the better of my day. A single tear rolled down my cheek. Fantastic coffee and atmosphere, I highly recommend Muddy Waters Cafe!

Great views and food, no complaints here. As I sat and drank my delicious coffee I pondered why I was in the dead end job I was in. I then called my boss and quit right there. I sat for the rest of the day and enjoyed the views of boats and trains by the beautiful Thames river.
