Hands down Steve’s place is the best lunch in the Newington Center area. I have been coming here basically my whole life. Doug is such a great guy very outstanding. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you meet Doug. I can’t say enough great things About Steve’s place Definitely a great gemstone in the community! You gotta check out their meatball grinders and their chocolate chip cookies are outstanding definitely one of my favorites. I have never had a bad experience here ever so check them out today!

My wife and I were there 9/9/24 for the first time to try it upon recommendation. I ordered A whole roast beef grinder and bought A 6oz. Bottle of Snapple (Cool Aid).
The grinder was Sparce and of dry meat and short on the other few things I wanted on it. I told my wife this is less than we got in high school (we are 67).
Ok, I can live with it until I had to pay $31.41 for One 11" Dry roast beef grinder and 6 oz. of Kool Aid????? Should have paid more attention to the price listed but I Trusted this guy who recommended the place! 😤 Total Ripp Off😤😡

Outrageous prices.our friend was completely stunned that his chicken cutlet sub was 28.00.our half sub turkey sub was 12.00.another friend was charged 36.00 for a steak and cheese whole sub...thats close to half my grocery budget for the week for ONE sub!!.sandwiches were good but the prices were not posted and kind of kept a "secret" until the food was prepared and rung up.ive never seen prices like this for sandwiches in my life. Had the prices been posted we would have gone elsewhere. We won't be back, ever.

Absolutely the best Meatball Grinder I've had in any restaurant in Conn. Sliced to eat and not wear, and accompanied with potato salad is a definite winner. I live ought of town and I've brought some close friends in...who are also Italian, and they agreed with me how good the meatball grinder is. The wait staff is friendly and hard working and some have been employed there for years. I've been going there since the 90's. See you soon!

Excellent meatballs. Since I do not make meatballs very well. This is my go to place. I add the meatballs to my sauce and have a delicious Italian

The quality of the food didn't match our expectations nor the very high ratings given by other patrons. I guess it's all relative. We gave it a shot....oh

I'm giving Steve's five stars because my food was excellent but I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get spinach as a wrap or grinder topping. I had actually had trouble getting spinach on my wrap at a couple local delis and my coworker recommended I try Steve's as she thought they might have spinach on the menu and be able to throw some on a wrap for me. But I still love the food and Stateline potato chips is a huge plus! Plus the staff are super nice and accommodating (except for the spinach but I'm not holding that against them).
