Delicious! First got one of their waffles at a jazz festival years ago in Hartford and knew I had to go to their restaurant. I’m originally from CT and plead for my mom to bring me here every time I’m home from Boston. Recommend it to all my friends if they’re in CT. I think the Newington location is great. They take credit card now which is nice! The chicken and waffles is all I’ve ever ordered because it’s to die for truly. Get it with the powdered sugar and maple syrup (my mom does without the sugar). The chips are perfectly crispy and so tasty! The chicken is juicy and breaded beautifully and the waffle is the most delicious sweet thing you could ever eat. I always end up having leftovers for later or the next day and it’s just as good cold but easily warmed up.

Would not recommend. Everything was cold and the hashbrowns were under cooked. Their signature waffle was awful. Stay away.

Oh my! We drove up and saw no customers parked in front. The sign said open. I thought must not be that good having no customers parked in front. I almost left. However an employee was arriving and directed us to the parking lot on the side.
We are so glad for that employee because the food and service was fantastic. Whenever we are in that area we will return to the Sloppy Waffle. Wonderful atmosphere and professionalism.

I visited Sloppy Waffle this morning and ordered an omelet to-go. Overall, my experience was okay, but a few aspects left me feeling a bit conflicted.

Food Quality: 9/10

Let's start with the positives! The food was outstanding. The omelet was cooked to perfection, with fresh ingredients and a great flavor that truly hit the spot. I would rate it a solid 9 out of 10 for taste and quality. I would definately come back!

However, there was a notable downside during my takeout experience. The restaurant seems to follow the current trend of pressuring customers into tipping on takeout orders. When I was presented with the payment options, there was no option to adjust the tip amount to zero. Instead, they automatically included a $2.50 tip, which felt less like a suggestion and more like a requirement.

This mode of operation raises some ethical concerns for me. If the diner feels the need to adjust prices to cover employee costs, they should do so transparently by simply including that in the item price. For example, if an omelet is $12, just price it at $15 and provide the full breakdown without disguising the cost.

I believe customers shouldn't feel pressured or guilty about tipping for takeout food when they’re already paying for their meal. Tips should be a reflection of service received, not an obligation.

In summary, while I enjoyed the omelet immensely, the forced tipping model detracted from the overall experience. I hope the diner considers revising this practice to foster a more customer-friendly atmosphere.

Went here for the first time yesterday and was shocked at how I had never been there before.. as soon as we walked in we were greeted and then asked if we had ever been there before the waiter when we told him no then explained so stuff to us. And the food was so delicious the chicken and waffles was the best I've ever had..and let's not forget to mention the fresh made whip cream I don't want to sound like a broken record but it also was the best Ive ever had..highly recommend this place.. definitely can't wait to go back again

Yes, the waffle was tasty; but the chicken on the waffle was pounded so thin that the coating was thicker than the chicken. A little syrup offered on the side would have off-set the dryness. The hash browns would be much better if even a little crispy. The coffee was amazingly weak. The atmosphere was homey, but our asking for a bigger table in a near-empty dining room seemed to annoy the staff. There is no service. The woman at the cash register was pleasant, but I hope they step up their game.

We had the most awesome experience here. Our son is allergic to wheat, eggs, soy, sesame, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish and fish and as you'd imagine we don't eat out with him often because it's hard to find places where it's totally safe for him to eat.
Sloppy waffle has gluten free options for waffles and pancakes I think, which they prepare in a separate space which is great, but for other things like meat and fries it's a little harder since those are prepared in areas with other allergens like eggs and wheat. And we don't expect anyone to be able to make their food prep areas allergen and cross contamination free. We are always grateful when I there's just one thing our son can eat.
That being said, Jeff who runs the kitchen went above and beyond for us. Checking ingredients, taking the extra step to cook things separately, remaking an order which was due to our error and then checking in with us twice. The result was our 5 year old having his first waffle and sausages outside of what we make at home for him and of course we'll be back because it's now in the list of places we can take our son. The waffles and chicken are excellent and the staff is really great too!

Second time visiting. I had the Oreo waffles with vanilla ice cream. Price $ sides are extra. Specialty pancakes 🥞🧇 One big pancake the waffles and pancakes needs more variety of flavors.
