Recently stopped in for cocktails after a weekend event at the Westport Library, conveniently across the street. We did not eat, but the staff was very friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. Carlos, our bartender, made great recommendations that were spot on, and he even brought us a specialty cocktail to try on the house. Chef Renato was also very engaging and generous, he offered us a tasty bite simply for the joy of hospitality. The wood-fired Neapolitan style pizza looked delicious, definitely want to try it next time!
Omg. Seriously one of the best restaurants I've been to in years. The food is perfection..Fantastic service as well. Love Love..
Basso is a beautiful family friendly as well as a date night location. The food is delicious. and they are mindful of people who have to be gluten free. Wow thanks guys! for caring for those of us that are limited in what we can eat! your menu satisfies all our needs! The ambiance is very special but most of all Renato, the owner is a sweetheart and a superstar! thanks Basso team !

We were a party of 3 that ate like a party of 6, the staff easily expanded our table and accommodated our needs to be able to enjoy the food, service and atmosphere. Our waiter helped us navigate their amazing menu and also let us try some experimental drinks they've been working on. Needless to say the food was amazing and the experimental drink was an easy favorite, I hope it's on the menu next time we go! Keep up the great work!

Mario was our waiter. What an awesome guy. He really made sure that the patrons were taken care of and most importantly enjoyed their meal. Food was delicious. Something for everyone with a dark and moody atmosphere ;) We missed the live music, but no doubt we'll be back.

Having spent over 20 years in the restaurant business in NYC with a father who spent his entire life in the business, the arrogance and lack of consideration for the customer that some restaurants have always amazes me. My wife asked for a modification to the only fish (non-shellfish) entrée on the menu due to allergy. Initially told no substitutions or modifications, then after significant pushback from our side, begrudgingly told that one simple modification allowed. The chef apparently cares more about authenticity than pleasing the customer, who does not have the same priority. Incredible lack of flexibility and creativity. Some of the other menu items very good (pulpo, mussels, gnocchi), others horrible (cavatelli, eggplant w/burrata). I will say the server was extremely accommodating trying to mediate between a dissatisfied customer and an intransigent kitchen. Never going back.
Delicious food, good drinks, warm and attentive service, nice location. Acoustics of the space make it easy to hear each other even if other tables are noisy and/or the music is loud. We'll be back.
Parking: Restaurant is across from the library and near the police station. There is parking at the library upper lot (adjacent to police parking area) and parking at the library lower lot too. Time of day may impact how easy it is to find a spot but it's usually reasonable.

We can recommend the tapas and the salads. Forget about desserts. We ordered several tapas with intent on sharing them, but were not given utensils to allow sharing. Desserts came with a teaspoon, when a knife and fork was necessary.

The food was fantastic and the drinks were delicious. Really loved the ambiance too. Coming back again
We have been coming to Basso Restaurant since it opened in Norwalk on Rt. 123 and have always had very good food and good service. Sat. was disappointing - I called ahead and asked for a quiet table -we were offered a choice of 2 - once next to the crowded bar or a small high top in the corner which barely had enough room for 2 dinner plates and was right on top of another table. I asked the waitress if the Cavatelli al Forno Quattro was spicey and was told no. Our entrees arrived and I couldn't eat the Cavatelli as it was too spicey, so I ended up trading plates with my husband who really wanted the Cavatelli Chicken Scarpariello. This was a disappointing Father's Day celebration.
Outdoor seating could have been more comfortable with higher quality chairs, but it was pretty good. The food was very expensive, but solid. The drinks, especially the sangria, looked very good.
Wonderful food. Great people. Friendly vibe

Owner was very nice. Waitstaff seemed very new but got the job done and was attentive. We had the halibut and the ribeye, we both weren't blown away by either dish but enjoyed them. Drinks were both really good and the setting is cozy but charming. If I went back I'd probably go for a cheaper dish to get more value out of evening.
