I cannot think of a better hotel experience that the one I had at GrayBarns, and I already can't wait to return! The rooms were spacious, cozy, and furnished with the most incredible attention to detail: fluffy robes and Frette slippers, a soaking tub with bath salts, gorgeous furniture, a generous bountiful free breakfast each morning with fresh ingredients, friendly and helpful staff, a sleek fitness studio, and an in-house restaurant. The inn is situated on a river with a willow tree, and the entire hotel experience was tranquil and rejuvenating. Thank you GrayBarns for an exceptional stay!

This place is such a hidden gem. I rented out the full inn with a group of friends (all in our 30s) for a relaxing getaway after a fun night out in the city. Alyssa was so incredibly helpful in helping me book, plan, and pull off the perfect experience (massages, happy hour on the lawn, dinner at the tavern, etc.) The property itself is beautiful with Adirondack chairs and a firepit looking out onto the Silvermine river. The interior is so well done and comfortable we didn't want to leave our rooms. There was no bad suite either. Each was unique yet perfectly appointed. The food from the mercantile and tavern was great, too! I can't speak to the area as we didn't really wander far from the property, but you honestly don't need to - you have everything at your fingertips. Loved every minute and will definitely be back. Thank you again, Alyssa!

It’s run by evil people- the daughter especially is a psychotic and cruel person. Don’t go here. The reason the staff is “bad” as I saw below in comments is because they fire people like every week and are continually training new people- just to fire them again. The daughter of the owner is a dangerous and unpredictable cocaine addict who should not be allowed to mingle with the customers.
Beautiful spot with great service.

This used to be the Silvermine Tavern, and the last time I was there was in the late 1970s when I was a teenager. So I did not recognize the place this time but the food was delicious. I had heard good things about the crispy fried oyster mushrooms, and indeed, they were amazing. Don’t think of the typical greasy deep fry. These mushrooms were light and delicate and the breaded part was more like a dusting of flour. It’s hard to explain but what I’m trying to say is they tasted healthy and good for you. I had the duck for dinner and my friend had the branzino. She doesn’t usually like parsnips but she said the parsnips were delicious. We ate at the Tavern. Did not stay at the Inn.

Final price in total for each room (includes tax) $1,200. Really expensive but wow. This place is really nice.
Everything that you see in the fridge (minus the birthday cake and the edible arrangement) is free. All the drinks are yours to keep. Even the drinks downstairs in the breakfast area is free for anyone to take. Our innkeeper for the day was Julie and she has been extremely helpful and hospitable. The amenities here are amazing and the bathroom even has heated flooring.
BUT my only problem with the place (aside from the lack of signal) is the TV. My friends and I wanted to play Playstation and use our Chromecast but we could not plug in anything since the TV was installed IN the wall.
My boyfriend and I have been to every hotel in Norwalk and this has been by far the best hotel/inn we have ever been to. We will definitely be back in the near future.

Beautiful location, solid service, nice food. The kind of place which has its act together. We have beenbreuken now several times since we returned in the area, and never disappointed. They have nice options seating wise, at the bar, at a table in the bar area, a larger seating area and outside. Great place!
Wonderful cuisine by Chef Ben Freemole ! The place is delightful, the perfect escape after a busy day in the city. Will be back!!

Just had a terrible experience at Graybarns. We waited 25 minutes after starters for our entrees to arrive. A "hostess" arrived with shrimp in a bucket to placate us. We declined as we really wanted the entrees we ordered. Finally after 30 minutes our dinner arrived. The pappardelle with beef bolognese I ordered had...NO BEEF. Additionally, the pasta was not properly cooked as several noodles were STUCK together. It will be a very cold day you know where before I darken their door and will definitely NOT recommend to my friends.
The ambiance cannot be beat! Romance in a rustic home in the middle of the forest is what it felt like. Only mistake we made was we didn’t book rooms. Wow! Best Branzino I’ve ever had. Everything was delish and priced on point. Excellent service. Must book in advance. Come with family friends or as a couple. Loved it. Only reason not a 5, the patio seats were not comfortable and I was in heels not advised in advance.
