I decided to give this restaurant a try based on the fact they offer Rhode Island clam chowdah as opposed to New England clam chowder. My wife and I each ordered a cup while sharing a small order of clam cakes. The chowdah was pretty good with bits of clam and lots of potatoes. The 1/2 dozen clam cakes, menu claims their fritters, included in our order were freshly prepared and better than most we have found in CT.

Very disappointed. A friend and I went into the restaurant and ordered New England Clam chowder as we had our hearts set on getting New England Clam chowder from this restaurant. The waitress dropped promptly served us Rhode Island clam chowder and when I questioned her she goes oh we don't sell New England crime chowder but by that time I had already opened both of them. I'm quite disappointed in service and I'm disappointed and even the poor quality of this time chowder. It is piping hot though there are few clams and whatever there is are very chewy, not tender as I expected. There's more potato than anything else in this clam chowder which is ridiculous. I don't come to Johnny Ads very often as I live about 50 miles from here and I won't be returning. I hope Johnny Ads responds to this critical poor review of the restaurant. Bye

Ordered our usual there been homing there for many many years but the new management has changed things up , smaller portion the goods no longer top shelf cutting corners , they changed our favorite Rhode Island clam chowder into some sort of creamy poor man’s New England. Clam chowder buy adding a ton of butter. Making it like a cream sauce , they scallop portions shrunk and the breading falls off in the carton.

I do not recommend the seafood platter very small portion for $40. I have been to many other seafood spots that will give you a bigger portion for around that price range...

It was okay. First time having a lobster roll (got the hot one). It was surprisingly small for $30. It wasn't bad. But nothing to be amazed about. Definitely not worth $30 imo. Onion rings were good. Birch beer too. But disappointed after all the hype about lobster rolls

We use to order Rhode Island clam chowder but it hasn’t been the same the past three four times , thought they added cream or over cooked the potatoes because it had a milky white substance all Of CC a sudden , found out today that they now add butter to the chowder that’s what changed the texture and taste for the worst we stopped ordering it with our meals from now on have butter and milk allergies can have it. Too bad

Johnny Ads has amazing seafood platters always fresh. I particularly love the fried shrimp and the onion rings are delicious. The fish tacos are also very good.
