This place is an easy 5 star for the food but a 4. because if Covid times and dull atmosphere . Taking that into effect, the food was amazing! Fried artichoke appetizer was flavorful with a garlic aioli dipping sauce. Caesar salad was freshly made with a hint of sardines and homemade croutons. My GF got the crusted salmon which cooked to perfection with a tarragon, mustard cream sauce and I had the angus burger with fries which were hand cut. The place was pretty basic with decor but the food was on point and we will surely be back... definitely one of the better small restaurants in town!!!

Delicious food, and a really friendly staff. The fried artichokes are a must and the Hen salad with salmon was so satisfying!

Although we are local we have never been to the Red Hen until this summer. The tables outside the Kate bring a wonderful atmosphere. We found each dish to be wonderfully prepared. The mussels with saffron sauce were outstanding as is the Cacio e Pepe, and the Harissa shrimp. The quality reviles the best we have have. The price is reasonable for the quality of the food. The portions were more than ample. This restaurant is highly recommended.

While traveling with my boyfriend, we wanted a nice date night spot, in an area where options seem limited. We first sat at on the restaurant side, which was initially busy at 7:30, but was empty by 8:00. The drinks, provided by the side of the restaurant that was just a bar, were excellent. The service was friendly and attentive, and our food came SO quickly. I ordered the caccio e Pepe without prosciutto. I loved the addition of bits of garlic, egg, and spinach, but there was too much pepper for me. We hung out at the bar for a few hours after dinner, and our bartender was an absolute delight. She gave us recommendations for the area and was very generous with letting us sample drinks. I would definitely come back, for decent food and amazing drinks and service.

The food is delicious and beautifully presented!!! My husband and I traveled from Rhode Island to spend a few days in the area and we had to make this one of our stops for dinner. This is such a great place and the chef is AMAZING! Thank you!

Had to try this place out because the pictures on yelp looked DELICIOUS. Got the NY Strip and the fried green beans.... it did not disappoint. Steak was perfect, tender and flavorful. Green beans, crisp and fresh . Try this place out, I'm sure you will not be disappointed!!!

Friends and I went to the Kate for a show Tusk Saturday night, we stopped in before to have dinner. Tasha was our server and she was super friendly and accommodating despite how busy the restaurant was. We had the Cacio which was out of this world, the bolognaise, roasted cod, and eggplant Parmesan. Drinks were fantastic and it was truly a great time. We will definitely be back very soon!

So disappointed. We went because we were going to the Kate for a show and it was a restaurant on the ticket so we thought we would try it. What a horrible meal it was so disgusting. It's just one big noisy room. No sound barriers at all. Service was bad and the food was horrible we won't be back. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Went here after a event at the Kate. Small local restaurant with a very friendly staff. The meal was very good (egg plant parm and cod dish). The price was right. Good wine list priced at $10.00 for a glass. They have a extensive Tapa menu. We would go back again.

We went to Red Hen on the very strong recommendation of a local resident. Walking in, the atmosphere was nothing special but that doesn’t mean the food won’t be delicious. But the food was far from that. I ordered the mussels appetizer that was good. But my friend and I both ordered eggplant parm that was just OK. Waitress was friendly. Let’s just say, if I’m in Saybrook Point again, I’ll skip Red Hen.

Awesome meal. The hostess was a little rude because we didn't have a reservation, she stated it would take awhile to push two tables together. Then she let us wait after she had arranged the tables and sat someone with a reservation before making her way back to us. It just wasn't necessary. I'm not going to give a poor rating for one rude hostess- but someone should talk to her.

Went here for the first time last week. It was a slow day in the dining room but the bar was packed. We had great service. The portions are quite generous even the tapas. Interesting drinks. Will definitely return.
