I’m pretty sure the cook sitting in the chair across from the register had his phone up in my direction and took a picture of me… won’t be going here. Just felt weird. Food is okay not what it used to be.

I was very sick for 5 days straight, found Zhang's Res. on line, bought 2 different kinds of soups for the broth, it was wonderful and flavorful
Cant wait to be able to eat again, I will be sure to dine in

I had heard good things about this place from a friend and I was driving by today at lunchtime, so I stopped in for take-out. I ordered at the front desk and was told it would take 15 minutes. Maybe 5 minutes later, my meal was ready and I was headed home. I ordered the Chicken with Cashew Nuts and opted for the Egg Drop Soup. I got a very large serving of the dish, plus a very large container of soup. Also got a pack of crispy noodles and a bunch of sauce packets. I will start with the disappointment. The egg drop soup was very blah. Very little flavor. And I never say that about food. I read that in these reviews and I just figure the person has burned his/her tongue on the spicy stuff and cannot taste anymore. I don't eat spicy food, so this assessment is from a 'normal' tongue. Sorry, but the egg drop soup was a fail. The good stuff: The main meal was really good!! And there is lots of it. I have leftovers for dinner. It came with a variety of veggies and rice, plus some pretty flavorful sauce. The service was very quick! Oh, and the price was incredible - this was one of their lunch special items for $11.50. I will definitely be back for more!! I got a take out menu, and I WILL utilize it! Next time, I will try something (because you have a choice with the special) other than the egg drop soup. I just picked the wrong accompaniment. FWIW, I have never lived in China and so I am not comparing what I had to food over there. I just liked the main, but the soup not-so-much.

This is a great Gluten Free option. I have eaten here twice and it’s been safe both times. I am extremely sensitive and this 0lace is great.

We have only ever ordered take out but for the last 9 years, our favorite Chinese restaurant hands down! We’ve never had a bad meal here before and nothing around compares.

I was driving through Connecticut when my buddy and I decided to stop for lunch. Zhangs looked promising. This place has a great atmosphere and authentic vibe to it. When I go to a mom and pop asian restaurant I know its going to be good when the illuminated pictures are faded lol. The staff was kind and took pride in their offerings. The waitress/hostess made sure to check on us but she gave enough space for us to enjoy our food. I ordered Curry Chicken and rice. The spice level was perfect. The chicken was cooked perfectly and it tasted like it was marinated and/or sautéed in a curry sauce. The vegetables were fresh, and the best part in my opinion was the curry gravy. This place perfected their curry gravy. The combination of the sauce cooked into the chicken and the curry gravy was phenomenal. The rice serving was good, I don’t think I finished it all. I know my picture doesn’t display it well but the portion sizes were generous. I also had a thai iced tea which was sweet and not overdone with syrup and artificial sweeteners.

All I need to say is Zhangs is the best shoreline Chinese/Japanese restaurant in its price range. Great food at a great price, family owned, and always great service. It just gets very packed around dinner time, so service can be a little slow (but not bothersome) if dining in.

If I could give zero stars I would. Ordered gluten free general tso and pork fried rice combo. I was so happy because I thought I could finally have general tsos chicken as it says online it can be sautéed instead of fried and then it would be made gluten free. They even went as far as to label my container GF on top. When I got home and started eating I knew it was too good to be true. I called and the man on the phone told me that it’s not really gluten free, the chicken is still breaded with wheat flour and fried, it’s only the sauce that’s gluten free. How in the hell does that make sense?????? Then the guy on the phone told me it was my fault. Ridiculous. Now I’m going to be sick for days all because these people don’t know how to safely curate the menu they claim to. Will never recommend this place to anyone.
