Great Dairy Queen location – so happy to have one nearby!

I recently moved to Cobalt and was thrilled to find out there’s a Dairy Queen just 5 minutes from my house. When I lived in Hartford, the closest one was about 20 minutes away, so this is a big win.

The store is spacious, clean, well organized, and very inviting. We stopped by after a trip to pick up treats for myself, my husband, and our guests. As always, Blizzard treats are a hit and instantly make everyone happy.

If I had one small suggestion to make it perfect, it would be to enjoy the filling throughout the Blizzard, not just at the very end.

We arrived close to closing time for inside pickup (around 9:15 pm, with the lobby closing at 9:30 pm). I initially thought it closed at 10:00 pm based on Google, but that’s actually for the drive-thru. Even so, we were welcomed, treated kindly, and had a great experience.

I’m very happy to have this as our new local Dairy Queen and will definitely be back — and bringing more people with me.

The inside of the establishment was VERY CLEAN. Definitely above standard from my perspective. The gentleman Jake was very knowledgeable about the Dairy Queen products. He didn’t get frustrated when I asked about a flavor that wasn’t available until a certain time period. I would use this place as or even Jake as the standard across the board.

We ordered ice cream and burgers. The staff made over 5 errors between 6 items! They also forgot to stir the dip prior to placing on the cone. We ate here at 256 pm with zero line. They also forgot the drink cup with the meal! Manager needs to take on an active role in providing quality products to the costumer.

Very clean and friendly staff. Food and ice cream was delicious and there is a lot of seating both inside and outside. It was incredibly nice to interact with the cashiers and have them be in a good mood, smiling. I hope management treats them well, as it was such a nice visit!

Front line cashiers need better training here. The cashier did not type in several items that people ordered, so we — as well as the people in line behind us — were missing items in our orders. They made us stand back in line to place our order, which I didn’t really appreciate. Ops are not very efficient either. The long line inside doesn’t move very quickly.

3/31/25. So I’m actually at the Dairy Queen restaurant right now compliments go out to the young lady working the front counter. She was pleasant, and I had sat down while I was waiting for my food. She actually brought my food to the table for me, which was very kind. Compliments should go to the rest of the staff tonight as well as they made my food and they seem happy serving other people. A restaurant is clean and very modern.

When ice cream is ordered at drive-thru it’s made and can sit there on the counter for a good 10/15 minutes before you get to the window. The ice cream is all melted and ice cream cone literally falling over. They should hold off making the ice cream orders until the person gets to the window. Workers at the window literally don’t care what they are giving out. Definitely won’t be going back.

My husband and I have been stopping a lot for quick bites. Staff super and food quality is good. Other DQs we have tried nearby haven’t been as good either the order is wrong or food quality not as good. Someone has their act together at Portland!

Placed an order to the wrong location (my mistake) even after selecting the closest location to me, I tried to cancel or change location and it quickly became obnoxiously time consuming. I was trying to grab a quick bite on my 30 minute break, but spent the rest of my break calling the store to attempt to cancel and calling corporate just to “request a refund”. Now I have to wait for a call back from the store owner, not given a time frame on that. Couldn’t get food on my break, nor do I know if I am to receive anything refund. RIDICULOUS. I understand I am one little customer but I have zero intentions of ever returning to Dairy Queen after this issue. Other mobile ordering apps have simple ways to cancel or even change the location when you make this mistake.

Nice DQ. Clean, good/well trained employees, and what can you say? It's a perfect place for a quick cone on the run. Take home cakes and bars are perfect for food gifts that everyone likes..
