I went in tonight for a coffee and a pastry before a quick walk down to the water fire and back.
When I came back in to lisen to a few more songs I was rudely approached by the blond bartender with a nose ring and asked to buy another Item or I have to leave. She knew I had just bought 2 items before I left for a 20 min walk to check out the event.
However RUDELY she didn't care. She interrupted a wonderful conversation and said because I left and came back I have to buy something, so I said , have a good night and left.
Im a 45 year old disabled man with 2 great kids.
I had already spent my budget and was very embarrassed and left. On my way home I called them to speak to a manager about this Erica told me that I wasent asked to leave that She just wanted me to buy a bottle of water or a espresso shot or LEAVE. Sence when do you patronize a paying client to spend more money or leave. EMBARISSION
Sterbridge has much better employees.
They were dropping plates, every 20 min you here something fall and break. Spending 75 dollars there a week and getting treated like was a slap in the face.

Great little shop. Nice and quiet during mid-mornings. I like to stop here on my way through and grab a hot coffee and muffin. Coffee is great, and muffin is on par. Wi-Fi is easy to access and I haven't had speed or connection problems with it at all. Highly recommend this shop.

Nice options of coffee, desserts, and drinks. Their martini had a strong pour and the flavor was good, although still found the price quite high. We felt a bit pestered by the staff who kept coming around asking if we wanted to order more items. We ordered something shortly after arriving there, and then additional items thereafter, but I would say about every 5-10 minutes the server would ask if we were going to order more items. I don't feel we overstayed for the amount we ordered and based on visiting other cafes/bars where you order, sip, and chat this place felt rushed.

Excellent cocktails, comfortable friendly atmosphere! We tried panini sandwiches which were delicious making us wanting to go back soon and the pasta salad was amazing. Our bartenders were awesome and knew how to make a great cocktail.

One of the BEST coffeeshops I have been to in CT. Catherine provided great service and the ambiance was so relaxing.

I was really excited to try Saw Dust in Putnam today with my friend, especially since I’ve been to the Sturbridge location a few times and loved it. Unfortunately, my experience in Putnam was the complete opposite.

When we walked in, we weren’t greeted—not a huge deal, but not the best first impression. We sat down, got settled, and started looking at the menu when a server approached us and said, “I usually don’t do this, but can you please order something now? My boss just got here.” We let her know we were planning to order but weren’t sure what we wanted yet. Despite that, we still felt rushed to decide.

We ordered martinis, and when she asked for our IDs, she laughed and said, “Sorry, I don’t know how to read IDs.” Poor training aside, the whole interaction just felt awkward and unprofessional. Overall, we felt uncomfortable, like we were being treated as if we were loitering rather than paying customers.

As servers/bartenders ourselves, we understand the stress of the job, but proper training goes a long way. She seemed more afraid of her boss than focused on providing good service. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for.

Staff is rude and disrespectful. I will not be returning nor would I recommend to anyone.

The food and service is great, but the "owner" was rude and creepy to his women employees and it made me incredibly uncomfortable. This place would be great with new ownership.

Absolutely rude, disinterested cashier this morning. Staff could not get order right. Once seated and relaxing during our coffee and snack the same cashier wanted us to move to accommodate a booked musician. Seems to me they should have blocked off the space when they opened. Very disappointed and unsure if we’ll go back when there are other coffee places downtown.

Please being the music back upstairs. Not the same vibe downstairs. Sincerely all your customers. Thank you

P.S. I will change to 5 star once the music vibe is back upstairs 😉
