We had welcome drinks for our wedding at Ancient Mariner and it was a blast. Ancient Mariner is a gem, not least because they had Maine Lunch on tap. Shannon was very responsive and communicative. The staff were wonderful and kind enough to ask what music we wanted and even kinder to put on Steely Dan. This place rocks.

We were so worried that under new ownership the Mariner wouldn't be the same. It's better, so much better. They cleaned up the decor, it's the same. They improved the lighting. The menu has the old favorites and much more. Fish and Chips is still great. Burgers have a better bun. But now they also have miso salmon, PEI mussels, parm encrusted chicken, and so on. So happy we can still love it – and more.

Salmon app, crispy Brussels sprouts, miso salmon and Farrow salmon we're all delicious. And service was great. They got us in and out for a show at Ridgefield Playhouse. We had a reservation which was key. It was busy on a Friday night.

We have been to The Ancient Mariner multiple times in the last few months. Absolutely loving the new owner/chefs food. The menu is excellent with the freshest fish. The Faroe Island Salmon is delicious and served with mashed potatoes and spinach. We also enjoyed the scallops and a Black Sea bass special. You can still get great burgers and salads so there is something for everyone. The restaurant is cleaner and brighter under the new ownership. We love the new Mariner!

Stopped in for a drink and a small bite. Had the Firecracker Cauliflower. It was great, not too spicy! Decided to get the lobster roll to go, which was also excellent! Friendly staff, I would definitely comeback again. Cheers!

New Owners DANGER!
Service Horror !!!
After waiting 45 min my app and meal no food showed up…
I noticed several customers that sat down after us get their food
My server asked how was your Calamari
Well we never received any food …
After asking a few questions… I find out one of the servers had her family in the restaurant.
My tickers got pushed to the side and then lost..
I would avoid this restaurant after observing
the worst service ever seen .
The funny part is … the owner offered us a free meal several times …
I don’t want a free meal … I want to be served in a timely manner… not pushed to the side and then forgotten about…

I had the pleasure of having dinner here last night (Sept 2, 2025) with my wife and two young daughters - we weren't sure what to expect but were optimistic based on the other reviews, especially since the new owner/chef started. We were really blown away with the quality of the food, from the kid's mac and cheese to the calamari, salad with tuna and the Montauk scallops, which were some of the best we've ever had (these were a special but might make their way onto the main menu - we hope so). The quality of the food was top notch and the service (thanks Colin!) was super friendly and made our kids feel at home. This was our first time but definitely won't be our last! Thanks Ancient Mariner!

Went there on Saturday night, the new owners were very personable and offered suggestions. Ordered the fried calamari to start the Black Sea Bass both the special and the menu item and finished it off with the churro for desert. Food was phenomenal! Would definitely return!

WOW!!! Had an incredible meal under new ownership. Food was outstanding - our table had Maine lobster roll, Black Bass, and the salmon special and we were all blown away. We had the nachos, tuna tartare, firecracker cauliflower and calamari as starters and the churro, key lime pie and carrot cake for dessert - all were amazing! Staff was super friendly and attentive and Chef came out to greet us and make sure everything was to our liking - it sure was!!

Super cute little restaurant! Wasn't very busy when we went on a Tuesday night, but the staff was still attentive and kind. Loved the look of the place, beautiful wood, it was a very nice atmosphere. Food was good, got the Jesse burger and my girlfriend got the grilled salmon, we both liked them. Shoestring fries were crisp and delicious as was the potato salad. Highly recommend coming here

Parking: Parking can be rough if it's busy, I'd recommend trying to find any spot and walking where you have to as on the weekends you probably won't find anything near it in the lot

Food was great! We're from Texas so we wanted to get things that are different from home. Lobster Roll and Truffle Fries did the trick for me. Enjoyed the Counterweight beer as well.

Kid-friendliness: My son had a hot dog and really enjoyed it. My other son had Clam Chowder which was great but not necessarily from the kid's menu...

Very disappointing - "English-style" Fish & Chips was undercooked and fries tasted old (and cold)
