Very disappointing - "English-style" Fish & Chips was undercooked and fries tasted old (and cold)

I stopped at the ancient mariner to grab some fried clam strips to go. Folks running the place are very nice. The food was ready on time and delicious as expected because this place was recommended by people working in the area that I know. I will definitely be back here again in the future.

I can always count on The Ancient Mariner for great service, great atmosphere, and delicious food.I typically get to come and enjoy this wonderful local watering hole on Monday evenings, when the incredible Nikki is bartending.Highly recommend supporting this wonderful local spot whenever you are in Ridgefield.

Hole in the wall spot with great ambiance. YOU MUST get the clam chowder. Chunky, salty, and delicious! Very kind staff as well - 10/10!

AVOID. 3 of us went for dinner and we each ordered the seafood platter (shrimp, clam strips, cod, fries).Service was good, food quality was not bad, but this "establishment should have been completely embarrassed" putting the platters in front of us with such small portions, I counted there were literally 2-3 fork fulls of clam strips, the entire piece of cod was consumed in 3 bite sized portions, 2 shrimp, and a total of 7-8 french fries. I literally thought they made an error and were bringing us an appetizer, it looked like the remnants of someone that could not finish their entree vs. a complete dinner. Simply, we were all too hungry to complain, so we ate paid and left. Never Never Again.

Fun casual bar / restaurant with a solid cheeseburger. Was in the area actually searching for parking to go to another restaurant and happened on this place. It a wonderful little place that apparat's to have been around while, though I can't confirm how long exactly. It was fairly busy at the bar (random Tuesday at 1pm) so I grabbed an open table in the restaurant area. The bar tender / waitress came over almost immediately and was super friendly and helpful. I went for the burger and curly fries and was not disappointed. Seems like a fun place to grab an afternoon beer or a casual meal in the area.
