The first time I tried this restaurant, I was very unimpressed with the size of the quantity given and the high prices. We had a $200 meal that left us still hungry. SO, I figured I would try again but instead for take out. Honestly, extremely disappointed. The Uni sushi & eel sushi was Polly pocket bite-size. Im a small person & I was able to take one tiny bite of the entire thing and it was finished. NOT worth it. The volcano roll is supposed to be a completely raw roll on the inside with tobiko and spicy mayo sprinkled on top. Instead, I got a warm roll with mushy fish and what I’m assuming is mushy tempura & spicy mayo with Sriracha squirted on top of. Topping on the cake, the softshell crab roll very smelly, full of cucumber and missing the avocado & eel sauce. I had to throw my $57 meal away. I try to order local to support but this restaurant is 100% taking advantage of the fact that it's 1 of 2 local sushi restaurants in the area. Shame on this restaurant- DO BETTER!
The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because of prices, be prepared to spend at least 30 per person even when you eat here. The food is the best I've found within 30 miles of this location and I end up ordering far more often then I can really can afford too.

Best damn shrimp tempura roll I’ve ever had, and I’ve had them all over the US as well as over seas. Absolutely delicious!

A lot of their southeastern sauces are premade so can’t be custom made without fish sauce. This limits your options if you do not eat fish. The menu isn’t marked so it hard to know whats vegan and vegetarian. Otherwise its a charming place.
There are some decent veggie options here and a generous lunch schedule.
Superb sevice and company.
Vegetarian options: Therr are some vegan options on the main menu but you have to ask. The hibachi menu is not vegan as they use a dairy. margarine.

I got a steak meal at this place with a few friends, and it was amazing. We went to do hibachi, and even if the food was good, the wait was only a little bit worth it. We had a reservation for 6:00 and were seated right away but the person that made our food, came at around 6:30... in all, food was food, but the wait was too much for me to give this place 5 stars.
Kid-friendliness: The servers are very nice.

Good for a local basic CT Japanese/Chinese fusion restaurant. The servers need to be trained- they are rude, abrupt. The floors and tables are sticky. The place could use a good cleaning.

Food is alright but it feels like you’re eating in a cafeteria. It is very dark and gloomy and is not a fun place to eat at. It is full of chaos because they are understaffed and when my family and I went we had to drink out of red solo cups because they didn’t have any more cups. It is fine to order to go but for a sit down dinner it is awful.

Service is absolutely awful, the waitress doesn't do anything to make you comfortable. They said they don't serve Pellegrino but then want to charge you $5 per cup of soda water when you didn't ask for it. Salmon roll was very fishy and smelly. Long time waiting for the food even with the restaurant being empty. Do not recommend.

2024: we had a delicious meal tonight; fresh delicious sushi and sashimi, delicious dishes were Happy Family and the Thai red curry wasn't that flavorful.Very attentive service.Cool atmosphere.2020: We go to Mannen often because we love sushi and it's the only sushi around but lately the quantity is so teeny .. I usually get the Tuna sushi and sashimi dinner, the pieces of sashimi are much less than 1/8" thick, even one peice was literally a sliver, like they think they are cutting carpacio.. the sushi pieces also tiny, really not worth the $25, I'm refusing to go back. The staff is very noisy and it's unpleasant, although they are friendly.Good note, I've never gotten sick.I'm only giving this 3-stars because I'm nervous about giving them 2 ...

I told them not to give me the ends full of fat that they did the last time. Instead words were exchanged from waitress to sushi bar and this is what I got. Wrote to owner but did not hear back. Zoom in on this.

Have been a fan of Mannen for 15 years. Another fantastic dinner tonight. The Lobster Roll and Crispy Duck were out of this world. The service was exemplary.

Japanese tasting diner food - that's what our dinner seemed like. Mannen is a handsome space - looks nice and inviting. The food - well, the Miso Soup was watery, the Indian pancakes were greasy with a tasteless curry sauce, the salmon teriyaki seemed like frozen salmon with some teriyaki squirted on at the end of the cooking, and the tempura was sticky and heavy - but the vegetables inside were fresh. It wasn't a bad meal, but it just wasn't a particularly good meal either - very average. We did go early, and we did not order sushi - perhaps that is the specialty. But overall - meh!
