I'm really getting disappointed! This place has always been a local favorite hangout because it always had good food at reasonable prices where a single person or a couple could go almost every day and just have their late afternoon meal and not worry about dinner. But this has deteriorated so much! Although the food is still good, the prices have gotten ridiculous for what's being offered. The prices are going way up and all of the portions are going way down, to the point of it being ludicrous. For example, the salads used to have eight small tomatoes. Then they reduced to 6, then four and now three if you're lucky! The tuna salad on lettuce in the container had a great scoop of tuna and little accoutrements on the side to toss into the salad, but now the tuna is about the size of a large tablespoon full and even black olives that were in some of the salads were reduced down to maybe three from about 8.The quiche was a favorite but now it is at $16.00 for two slices and the slices have been cut smaller and smaller. The salmon benta tray has a piece of salmon that is like a small square. The dessert cakes are about a third of the size of what they used to be, the brownies are about half the size less. The atmosphere has deteriorated too. A lot of local people used to go and hang out and say hello to each other and read their newspaper and have a warm sandwich, salad sampler or meal on a weekend or Sunday brunch and now everyone just basically does take out, so it has lost its intimate panache. No more people watching! :-(We have to think twice about what we choose to purchase because of the high cost. A few things in our to-go bag, and it's always $75-100.The food is still good, it's just that the portions have been cut way way down and the prices have gone way up. I think the customers deserve a lot better than this. It's really insulting to the customer and they really ought to rethink this.(By the way, the reviews that are older, from 2 to 3 years ago, don't really apply because that was then. It has changed since.)

Really loved this place, until they started charging $1 extra whenever you order Turkey, but never with other meats. Prices have increased, I get it, but really???? And the food quality has not improved. Still selling stale breads. So sad.

If you find yourself in Greenwich, and want to pay NYC prices for fresh food, stop by Debra Ponzek's cafe. This location may be her first. I've always liked their hazelnut coffee, and today met my standard. The White Meat Green Goddess chicken salad offered small pieces of chicken in a dressing that surprised you with bits of tarragon and watercress. I didn't closely read the label of the chickpea side salad and was pleasantly surprised by the Roquefort cheese. It provided a tang to an otherwise "to be expected" side. The portions are small, yet together the two made a perfect meal. Most everything is self service and the empty hazelnut carafe was quickly replaced. The staff had few smiles to share, and maybe the gray day was the reason. Given that it's Greenwich, the staff may have been tired by an exhausting clientele. Sitting outside to eat and read is lovely, and there are tables with umbrellas that can handle quite a few for lunch.

It was delicious but expensive.

Solid deli bakery etc with great food to go. Prices aren't even bad considering the Fairfield location. And never a line when I went. Really great place for stuff to eat on the run and lovely food items.

A decent place to stop and pick up some food. Typical overpriced.

So many great lunch options here. Quality foods. Love that they have a lot of small portions also, mini sandwiches, etc. Thank you!!

Food is pricey but good. The staff is very nice, but a bit overwhelmed. Don't expect breakfast items ready at 7am opening. Their baguettes are the best I've tasted!

Very bad customer experience, I came to this place 3 times before posting this review, I decided now to share my experience. There were at least 5 employees and no customers waiting on the line, seemed that no one care about taking your order, after the order was placed I have to ask 3 times what was going on to bring a simple cold sandwich, we were there 10 minutes waiting. Also sandwiches are below average, nothing so special and there are small. My wife order a salad, which was Ok and a veggie quiche, I will advise you not to order the quiche, it was gummy and seemed it was soaked on cold milk, un-eatable. Better go any other place close by, even if you have to drive 50 miles…

Fresh food AND pastries... choose premade or made to order sandwiches. Salads including egg salad, tuna, noodle, Yogurts, granolas, beverages, fresh coffee: All beautiful and sparkling clean.Pleasant and efficient staff. Space to seat yourself provided outdoors. Croissants look great plain or chocolate. Pricey. Sandwiches were about $11.50 each in March 2022.

This has always been one of my favorite lunch spots. I have been going here for over 10 years. My favorite sandwich is their #1 which is an avocado sandwich. Their ingredients are always super fresh. The staff is also always so kind!!

good quality, but the world's worst service. tried to buy something yesterday and they couldn't take a credit card. tried again today and 4 people behind the counter busy doing nothing and after waiting ten minutes to pay, I finally gave up and went across the street to Balducci's. As I said, good food, but not worth the very aggravating, low efficiency service.
