My recent visit to Bob's Coffee Shop for breakfast left me with mixed feelings, particularly regarding the Lumberjack Plate. The potato pancakes, which were more like well-seasoned home fries pressed into patties, were quite good, and the upgrade to Texas toast was a solid choice as always. However, the egg whites were disappointingly thin and lackluster. While the toast was enjoyable, the type of oil used was blah; having a choice, such as virgin olive oil, would have been a significant improvement to the dish.
What truly dampened the experience, however, was the service. We had to flag down our waitress several times just to get a refill for a small 6-ounce coffee cup. After she dropped off the bill, we were rendered completely invisible. She visited the adjacent table numerous times, yet she never once looked up or checked in to see if we needed anything else. This level of inattentiveness after the meal felt dismissive and unfortunately overshadowed the better parts of our breakfast.
