We had such a wonderful and fascinating experience at Mine Hill Distillery thanks to General Manager Ron Neugold, Head distiller Chris Byles and Asst Distiller Audra Sanchez. They were warm and patient as they explained the history of their distillery, which is housed in an old tobacco warehouse built in 1870. You can still see where workers once hoisted up bales of tobacco leaves into the building's attic, where cigars were made. Further up the hill is an old mine, which gave the hill its name. Chris and Audra took time to pour us tastes of vodka, gin, bourbon, rye and Amaro (Mine Hill’s unique ‘take’ on Sweet Vermouth). The team shared.a wealth of knowledge about the art of making craft liquors with truly unique flavors. It's definitely worth the trip to Roxbury to get the full Mine Hill experience.

Wow. I have to admit I am not a spirit drinker and I wound up here because I bid on a package that they generously donated to Caroline House benefit (THANK YOU), and it was just awesome. I went with a group of five women. Our package included a tour, and a tasting. Chris was our guide and told us the history of the buildings and explained the whole process of how the company was started, how the spirit process works, showed us the distillery, the barrel house, and the old train station… I was fascinated the whole time. The history of the buildings is outlined in photos as you walk through, and there are QR codes that you can scan to learn more. We wound up upstairs sitting in front of the fireplace as Chris explained the complexities of each of the five types of handcrafted Connecticut spirits they make. I came away with a whole new appreciation! Their spirits are literally made by hand, bottled by hand, labeled by hand right here on their property. We ended our tour in their separate house/bar which they also rent out for private events, sipping seasonal cocktails, and eating charcuterie snacks. It was a perfect fall afternoon. We left with a little booklet of the cocktails that we were drinking that afternoon as they encourage you to make these at home! They want you to enjoy their spirits and share with friends. As Chris told us, this was a place where you gather with friends before you go out to dinner to try a new fall cocktail, or meet up with a friend before you go shopping in town. It really is a special place. I am so glad I went! I will definitely be back for the Miner’s Punch. Please note I am a wine girl so I was definitely surprised how much I enjoyed the cocktails. I hope my review encourages you to visit, and Chris if you are reading this, thank you so much for being such a gracious host to us!
Best distillery in CT I've tried so far. Gin, vodka, bourbon, rye and amaro. All great! Can't wait to make a Manhattan with the Rye and Amaro. What a great find!
My wife and I stopped there on the way to the beach, and it was excellent. It’s a really nice setting, perfect for the product. Kind of wish we had seen it in the fall, because it must be incredible. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful, talked the product up without being pushy, and we really enjoyed it.
Beautiful little distillery in a old town. The building has some original features of the old cigar factory, and they are turning the old train station into a little cafe.
I like that this place runs their whole operation, they distill, barrel and bottle it all. They also source all their grains from local CT farms.
Our host was very nice for the tasting
Very nice property, nice river with a water fall, outdoor seating.
Looking forward to their growth and expansion
Exelent time all is outstanding highly recommend
Well it didn't surprise me when I saw your rating. Was lucky enough to see your gin on our local store end cap. Needed something special for a friend who loves her gin... on the rocks. We crushed the bottle over a few hours and both gave it 5 stars. It was amazing!
What an amazing day! Drove up to the Mine Hill Distillery only to find the front door locked. That didn't make sense. I found the staff working in another part and felt bad for interrupting, but they were awesome.
Me and my best friend sampled what they had to offer and accidentally bought four bottles.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Amazing products ... all around.
I hear they are opening a restaurant. I am sure they are going to rock that too.
FYI: while we bought some bourbon, the vodka is amazing.
Enjoyed very much
Such a local gem of a place to visit. Friendly and informative, Ron lead us through the history of the building, and then of course the distilling process itself. I came for the Bourbon, but really enjoyed the vodka during the tasting. Will definitely be back.

Truly amazing! Good spirits!
Exceptional quality. Applause for refurbishing historic buildings. Their products feature Connecticut grown grains and vendors. Made in Connecticut!
As the owner of The Blue House Bagel Co. Café, I was initially intrigued when Mine Hill Distillery reached out to collaborate. My first thought was, “Bourbon and Amaro with bagels? How in the world?” But curiosity got the best of me, and after much experimentation, something truly special was born.
We developed Bourbon French Toast Bagels, Amaro French Toast Bagels, along with Amaro Cream Cheese and Bourbon Cream Cheese. The flavors were a match made in heaven—rich, indulgent, and unlike anything else on the market. We launched these creations on Connecticut Day, and the feedback has been nothing but positive. Our customers are loving the unique twist on our traditional bagels.
This collaboration has been a delightful surprise, and we have a lot of fun stuff coming soon. I’m thrilled to be working with a distillery that shares our passion for creativity and quality. I highly recommend Mine Hill Distillery to anyone looking for exceptional products and exciting partnerships!

We held my daughter's graduation party at the Mine Hill Distillery Depot. It was an absolutely awesome time!
The owner, Ron, was so incredibly helpful throughout the entire process and very quick to answer my questions. He has a great passion for everything there. The Depot - which has such fun history - is located in a gorgeous spot in CT right on the Shepaug River. Sitting at the fire pit was like being in the center of a fantastic painting. Ken from the distillery was there on the day of our party and was so kind to talk to guests about the distillery process and the different spirits we had at the party. Everyone had the best time! They loved being able to tour the distillery and do tastings as well as having fun at the party. A few friends happily bought bourbon and the Amaro (one of my favorites!) They couldn't get over how delicious the vodka was.
It is such a beautiful location, amazing people to work with, so simple to set up our party and made for wonderful memories. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
Stopped in for a quick tasting. The people were exceptionally friendly. The property was beautiful. And we really enjoyed the spirits, particularly the Rye and the Amaro.
