Somos Handcrafted Arepas

Stumbled into Somos looking for a quick lunch and left wishing we had one near us! Amazing food and even better service. They walked my 11 year old through everything and made great suggestions and recommendations. Great spot!

My first experience in somos was delightful! I assume one of the owners was serving the food, he was polite, gave options and best pairings for sauces. The food was delicious, I got the cachapa and the cornbread was the perfect amount of sweet with real corn baked in. The garlic aoli was well suited and not overpowering. Definitely will be recommending and returning!

AMAZING!!!! I got the tequeños with garlic aioli and the avocado chicken arepa and put the chipotle mayo on it. 10/10. I would not change a single thing. Plus the staff was super nice! Will be back for more.

Man oh man what I wouldn’t give to have a spot like this back home. Arepas have always been one of my favorites but we don’t have anywhere near home to get them. When leaving Shelton after a conference I convinced my dad to give in a shot before the drive home and while he was apprehensive at first, Alejandro gave him the full run down, was really kind and informative, and eased him into his first Arepas. In between bites he muttered “why don’t we have these at home?”. Food was great, atmosphere fantastic, and was just generally an overall great vibe. While it’s obviously a fast casual spot, it is 100% worth checking out. Looking forward to coming back next time we are passing though!!

My coworkers and I are obsessed with this place. I’m extremely picky with rice bowls. A lot of places tend to lack flavor and/or freshness. I had low expectations for this place. But I was so impressed. The flavors are incredible. The meat isn’t dry at all. The toppings are so fresh. Every time I get their bowl I ALWAYS finish it. I don’t get bored or tired of it. Sosososoooo friken delicious.

They’re also really sweet. Good atmosphere and clean. Highly recommend this place to anyone. 💕

I came with my sisters and we each ordered something different from the menu and everything was so good. The owner was so kind and generous the food was amazing. I got the cachapa with meat and I was obsessed 😍 10/10 hands down.

I order my food and they didn’t know were it was and who it was I had to literally wait 40 minutes after they still didn’t care about my order and keep helping others that was getting in . This was because was my first time ordering from them . It’s ridiculous how they didn’t care about after I had ask about my order they just decided to ignore

This is my first time ordering food here. From the moment I arrived, the lady at the bar (dressed in black and somewhat overweight) seemed grumpy. She hadn't even started preparing my order, even though there was only one table. The food was 7/10, but the service wasn't the best. I simply didn't say anything and left. She didn't provide any eating utensils either.

Arepa was not fresh, meat was cold, plantains cold and the toppings looked depressing. I asked for a straw for my soda they didn’t even have that. They need to come back to the drawing board because this was a huge disappointment.
