Overall a solid meal. Caesar salad was underwhelming to say the least. Dressing was low quality and lots of thick veins of the romaine. Entree was very tasty but lack of presentation killed my overall experience. Service was on point. Thanks for having basketball on!

I finally decided to try this place with my daughter as part of a school fundraiser. We expected it to be busy, but saw about 9 tables open. This restaurant is on the small side, so we were especially surprised that it took over 20 minutes for the two of us to be seated. We were ready to order within a few minutes of sitting down, and after another 20 minutes we were finally given bread and oil that was delivered with our calamari. 10 minutes after that we finally got the attention of a staff member to get utensils and plates, which came to us just a few minutes before our meals. I ordered Eggplant Parmesan and my daughter had a kids cheese pizza with fries. We grabbed gelato on the way out.

The food was very underwhelming, with the best part probably being the bread. Calamari was flavorless and a very small portion. The kids pizza was soggy and chewy, and the fries tasted straight out of a bag. The eggplant parm was a nice portion but had penne that was so undercooked that it was actually hard in many areas, while the eggplant was dry from being too breaded. Neither of us were able to eat even half of our meals and had no interest in keeping anything as leftovers. The gelato we brought home was tasteful, but far from fresh.

The price of this place is also shocking.
For kids pizza, fries, and soda they charged $21
Eggplant parm and soda was $24
A small bowl of calamari was $16 (!!!)
Two single scoops of gelato was $11
This brought our two person meal to $72 plus tip.

I’ll leave my other opinions out of this, but can’t say this is a place I would ever visit again. While the location is convenient, the cost simply cannot be justified with the current status of their service and food quality.

I bought 3 steak and cheese 8 inch and mozzarella sticks which came to 58 dollars the grinder was dry and the cheese was hard in the grinder after picking it up "before it was even done" no mount of food should cost tht much for being tht poor of quality.its an insult to Italians nd the communtiy around them.what a joke this place is....its in simsbury so doesnt suprise me. I get higher quality grinders through mom n pop businesses that dont even cost half of what i paid there.

All I can say is that this establishment is mediocre at best. Food was ok not great. Service was less than stellar. Our waitress was not very attentive. Typically they return within a few minutes to make sure all is well with your order, not so in this case. Pizza was basically tasteless and something resembling what you might get from your grocer’s freezer section. Would I return or recommend to someone, probably not.

This place is a perfect representation of American greed. I got 2 pasta dinners for take out, which came to just under 50 dollars. This price is expected for take out given inflation but the portion size is absolutely absurd. How can you charge 20 bucks for that small of pasta dish? It was good don’t get me wrong but it’s not even enough to fill you up and it’s pasta for christs sakes, what’s it cost you a few bucks to make that dish? Then (like every other restaurant now a days) they ask you to leave a tip, for what cooking the food? The fine print on the menu is comical also, additional charges for splitting meals and required tips for party sizes over 6 people. But this is the society we live in today unfortunately and people are willing to overpay and business are ok with taking advantage to make a buck. Just frustrating.

Don't wash your money going there 45 minutes for a grinder and chicken tenders...the chicken tenders were so overcooked and dry more breading than chicken tenders were hard as rocks

Placed an online to go order for a large group. Card charged, email confirmation received, but showed up to get food and the restaurant was closed with a sign saying they would be closed that day and the next for Labor Day. No notice on website and online ordering left on with nobody home. Bright spot was they credited me back promptly, but no call back or apology for a glaring oversight that complicated getting dinner to a ready to eat group of people waiting at home. ??

This was my first time eating at Joe Pizza/Simsbury tonight and it won’t be my last! Ordered pizza to go and it did not disappoint! Perfectly cooked and tasty crust, with just the right amount of cheese, sauce, and toppings. Wait staff was prompt and professional, and a steady flow of customers is definitely a good sign of a business doing well!

Overall, just an extremely poor interaction. Due to the manager, Laura, I can say I’ve never been treated this poorly by any restaurant, let alone a manager. Bottom line up front: poor accountability, service, and quality.

I ordered takeout, which was my first mistake. I was running behind by about 20-25 minutes with traffic, which ends up being a problem apparently (arrival ~7:45). Anyways, I arrive and go to the gelato counter and tell them I have an online order. After about a minute the hostess comes back and informs me it’ll just be a minute. That’s fine, honestly probably pretty normal for a Friday night. The issues start unfolding after about 5-10 minutes go by and I still don’t have my food. I was starting to get skeptical, and rightfully so.

The hostess comes walking out finally with the pizza and a box that I could tell was warm, but not the usual “hot pizza box” off the top of the stove. I didn’t really think anything of it, I just wanted to get the food I payed for and leave.

Fast forward to arriving home (~15-20 minute drive) and I grab the box but now notice it’s slightly above room temperature. I pop it open and the cheese had dried because it had cooled off. At this point the pizza inside was room temperature.

The interaction really takes a turn here. I call them and ask to speak to a manager because I’m unhappy about a pizza not being able to even be remotely hot after a 20 minute drive. The first girl I speak to claims to be a manager so I briefly explain what’s going on. She throws me on hold and then the real manager picks up next. Her name is Laura, and as far as I’m concerned, I’ve never had a manager in any business speak to me this way.

I briefly explain to her that I had just gotten home and that after a 20 minute drive home my pizza is cold. She proceeds to apologize, which I was grateful for, but then starts placing all of the blame on me for being late. “We normally put the pizzas on the top of the oven” , “our staff says you were over an hour late (blatant lie and I corrected her)” , “if you thought it wasn’t hot when you got it, why didn’t you walk back in?” Great question Laura, because if I wanted to eat mark an hour of my evening in the restaurant, I would have dined in. Overall, extremely poor service, food, and accountability.

The food is honestly on the okay side, but if you put the portion size and price into the equation, it's not worth it. There are many better places in Simsbury for a better price.

Not to mention the fine print on the menu stating any shared dinners will cost an additional $3 (there goes any reason to buying a pizza with a date out), and parties 6 or over are required to pay an 18% tip. I've been to countless restaurants, never have I seen that before, I've only heard stories of restaurants doing that. Just because of the principal on the fine print, I will not be coming back.

It's a shame, the restaurant itself is very nice and the staff are extremely friendly.

Great food, the owners and staff are very nice. They are very welcoming and treat you like family. Remember the type of food and drinks you like. Not every restaurant out there is like that.

Although the shrimp fra diavlo was mildly spicy, I was pleasantly surprised that there was also mussels, clams & scallops, I was disappointed that there wasn't more SHRIMP. A few more and it would be 5 star rated.
