Fancy Bagels is a place with personality, humor, and a clear sense of self. It does not announce itself loudly, but it does not need to. The moment you step inside, it is clear this is a shop more concerned with good food and good energy than polished uniformity.
The atmosphere carries an organized charm. Lively, slightly unpredictable, and refreshingly unconcerned with presentation for presentation’s sake. It feels authentic. The sort of place that exists to serve proper bagels first and let everything else fall into place naturally.
Across the street sits Panera Bread, the two establishments facing one another all day like boxers before the bell. One polished, predictable, and corporate. The other expressive, independent, and entirely uninterested in playing the same game. It is a quiet standoff, and the result becomes obvious the moment food is involved.
We ordered the Asiago bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich, which remains my gold standard for judging all bagel sandwiches. Fancy Bagels delivered with authority. The bacon was applied generously and without apology. The eggs and cheese were fresh, well prepared, and balanced, allowing the bagel itself to remain the anchor of the sandwich.
This was not a delicate breakfast. It was a satisfying one. The kind that earns loyalty through substance rather than spectacle.
Somewhere between bites, a harmless thought drifted in. Why are seagulls called seagulls? If seagulls lived by the bay, they would surely be called bagels. It felt like precisely the kind of observation Fancy Bagels would approve of.
The only regret was missing out on one of their excellent ball caps, which were sold out at the time. A minor disappointment and a promising sign. I will be back the next time I am in Connecticut, and with any luck, so will the hats.
Fancy Bagels is the kind of place that makes you cross the street with purpose. A decision guided less by convenience and more by good judgment.

The Bagel drought of 2025 is over. I haven’t been told that specialty bagels have been sold out in months. Not sure if it is the longest streak of good luck ever, or they changed how many of the lesser varieties they are making, but it has been awesome.

I just stumbled upon this place and feel I’ve been missing out. I live 30 minutes away and happened to be in the area, finally a good bagel sandwich in CT! Extra points for the American flags ;)
I have been a loyal customer of Fancy Bagels in Southington since 1990. The quality of the food and the service is outstanding. The value is unmatched. The owner (Dom) and his mom (Jackie) are the most authentic and caring people I know. They are an invaluable asset to the Southington community. Fancy Bagels in Southington is a shining example of what is right with the world.

Although I moved to Florida about 5 years ago, I recently was in town, stopped for a 1/2 dozen bagels, as well as a Cinnamon bagel, toasted with cream cheese. Yummy! Love Fancy Bagels 🥯 in Farmington on Route 6. Large variety of bagels to choose from. Convenient location. Coffee is great too! Delicious.
This places awesome. Always fresh, always good. The line can get a little long sometimes, but that's to be expected for good food. I spend less money here than I would at McDonald's, and I'm actually getting real meat instead of a pink slime Patty.

This place is a piece of American history right here. Everything’s on point and I love the stuff on the walls. We need to hold onto places like this for the long haul because all the chains seem to be taking over with low quality high priced crap

Food used to be and is still delicious. However, I was saddened to see the American flag and Christian paraphernalia that adorned the walls. This place used to be very community oriented and I saw none of that.
