My wife and I stopped into Ideal Tavern during the Southington Apple Festival, and overall, it was a really solid dinner experience.
We started with the calamari appetizer, which was decent but not great. It was cooked fine, but the flavor was just okay. It came with a marinara sauce, and I think a lemon aioli or something a little different could have made it stand out more.
I also got a six-piece order of buffalo wings, and those were excellent. They were big, juicy, and full of flavor with a nice crisp to them. The sauce had great balance, and the blue cheese dressing was surprisingly good (definitely above average).
For mains, my wife had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, and I had the apple burger special. The burger was good, cooked medium rare and had good flavor. The aioli on it was excellent, though the apples didn’t add much for me. It was still a big, satisfying burger overall. My wife really enjoyed her sandwich. I tried a bite, and it was delicious.
The fries were unique too, kind of a homemade style I haven’t really seen before, but tasty and crisp.
Our server, Raven, was fantastic; friendly, attentive, and on top of everything.
All in all, Ideal Tavern is a solid spot with great service and good food. The wings and the sandwiches were definitely the highlights for us.

A cozy tavern with amazing food. Everything we ate was delicious. All the speciality drinks we ordered were also top notch. Service communication was great. It was about 50 percent packed and the vibe was perfectly chill for dinner. Parking was found on the street easily but I think we just lucked out. They closed at 9 so we walked right across the street for a night cap. Perfect evening. 100% would go back.

This was our first time at Ideal. It did not disappoint. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious! I had the braised short ribs that were so tender. My husband's steak was melt in your mouth good! We ended with the the funnel cake fries, sooo good. My husband and I will definitely be returning for more.
I enjoyed the shrimp and grits, my husband loved the blue crab ravioli. Both dishes were Hazel approved.

It was Taco Tuesday.. I was fixin for some fish tacos, wasn’t happening today, they were off the menu. Hey, I tried the others, and they were pretty good, actually very good and you needed to order at least 3 at $3. Ea. My Guinness nitro was good, smooth, good for the evening. My wife had a lemon drop martini with a sugar rim and she says it was delicious.. Now that I know the other tacos are better than what I was expecting, we will most certainly be back. We visited during Southington Restaurant Week and were so impressed! The prix fixe three-course dinner was an incredible value generous portions, delicious food, and upscale casual vibes. The Frozen for a Pear cocktail came out smoking and was a total showstopper.
For appetizers, we had the spinach artichoke dip and vodka meatballs, both flavorful. Our mains were the pappardelle bourguignon and chicken piccata. Dessert did not disappoint either, the sea salt caramel cheesecake and chocolate cake were the perfect sweet finish.
Service was great, and the atmosphere felt lively yet relaxed. Highly recommend checking this place out, especially during restaurant week. We’ll definitely be back!

We went here during Southington Restaurant week, and they had many options for the 3-course (appetizer, main dish, dessert) fixed price meal. Honestly, we liked everything offered and it was a difficult choice on what to get, but everything we ordered was delicious. Service was great, very attentive and food arrived at a good pace. The only drawback is that the restaurant can be a little loud. We've been to Ideal before and always have a good meal, and will be going back in the future!
