Mix Fine Cakes & Pastries

For our event of 60 guests
I asked for 100 Italian cookies and 100 German style cookies plus a special chocolate filled cookie and a full sheet cake… baker could not give me pre estimate. I said “ around $600”?
Baker said no worries ……
I’m used to the almond flour cookies from a well known Italian bakery. This bakery had photos of cookies that looked familiar so I placed our order. The order came in 5 full sized boxes that were about 36 inches by 12 inches. Very big and full of three layers of assorted huge cookies. Bland appearance. I recognized none of the cookies I’m used to getting from bakeries.
The taste….? I’m sorry owner/ baker
Whoever did mix the batter forgot to add ingredients. No flavor whatsoever.
Only cookie with flavor was the chocolate filled because of the chocolate.
I’m glad the guests enjoyed the cookies. But I knew what I ordered. They did not. And I had a full large box left which I donated to a church coffee hour.
The “ rum cake” … I did not taste it at all. I asked a few guests if they enjoyed the Italian Rum cake. ? None noticed any rum.
I told baker when I ordered to go light on rum flavor. But I don’t think it was added.
I am writing this poor review because the order was so opposite my expectations. I sent someone to pick it up and I did not realize the extent of the issue until they told me how much the bill was. I have a $100 dollar deposit upon order and my helper who picked up order was charged $800 dollars more for 150 cookies and a full sheet cake.
I’m never ordering from Mix again.
Perhaps I wasn’t clear enough?
In any event isn’t that a lot for cookies. They were all very large
So if he charged by weight making them huge would be more weight. Real cookie trays I’ve ever had at events had regular size and 5 lbs. on a tray were about 100 or so per tray.
I paid $900. Just wow. My bad I guess.
The Flair Restaurant attached to the Mix bakery is superb.
I thought the bakery would be better.

Couldn't be happier with our decision to go with Chef Hector and Mix for our dessert/pastry needs for a recent gathering we hosted!

Hector was fantastic to work with and provided us with exceptional customer service in the process. The pastries themselves were absolutely delicious! Guests at our event would not stop raving about the cupcakes, tarts, and napoleons just to name a few! Highly recommend Mix and Chef Hector if you are looking for delicious desserts in general or for your next event.

I bought a carrot cake this morning and it was the best I have tasted in ct and surrounding states. Chef your amazing at what you do… keep it up because definitely be back for some rum cake. Thank you so much see you soon

We got a delicious funfetti cake to celebrate my sisters birthday. Not only was the cake delicious, but the hospitality by the staff when picking it up was incredible. They helped carry the cake out to the car and were so nice and helpful all around. Would definitely go back soon!

Tried a variety of cupcakes. Their cupcakes taste like muffins. So great if you’re looking for good muffins, but way too dense for cupcakes!

My child has Celiac. I was looking for gluten free cupcakes.So pleased with the service and the quality of food and the attention to separate cooking areas to avoid cross contamination.

I bought cupcakes for a friends birthday. For $3.50 for a small cupcake they should’ve been exceptional. They were OK. dry and refrigerated .Won’t go back. Price chopper cupcakes are better less

Went in for a cake tasting which was amazing! Even though we decided to go with another baker this place is worthy of the five stars! The cakes in our tasting were so good! They also offer alot of different pastries! Definitely going back

I needed a Glutin free cake and a regular cake for my sister's suprise 60th and her and her husband's 20th anniversary party. Mix Fine Cakes & Pastries did a fantastic job. Everyone raved about the cakes being perfect. Devil food, with a layer of chocolate moose and a whipped cream base frosting. Delicious!!
