i usually love mexicue but after the poor service the last two times i’ve been here, i felt like i needed to write a review. the previous time wasn’t as bad, but last night’s service was terrible. at the entrance, we were told it would be a 20-minute wait for a table (we were a group of 4). the girl wrote my name and number on a paper bag 😂. we walked over to the bar and saw the majority of the tables were empty. the man who i’m pretty sure is the manager walked by us and i asked him why we can’t sit at one of the empty tables. he said it was a serving issue and they could only have a few tables filled (there were maybe 2 or 3 filled inside and some outside). i think he did apologize and he said it wouldn’t be a full 20 mins. we talked to the bartender about it and he even went to check with the manager. fast forward about 20 minutes, the bartender checked for us and he came back saying it would be a little longer. we ended up just ordering food at the bar. and sitting at the bar, you can see right into the kitchen. a lot of the staff was just standing around. i noticed the girl that originally told us the wait time was sitting behind me with a hoodie on and headphones in. i asked her if there was an update on our table stating that it had been longer than 20 minutes and she said “i have no idea.” she got up to check but my mom and i said don’t even bother. it almost like we were singled out or forgotten about. we complained to a guy who might’ve been another manager when our food was brought to us at the bar. there was literally a table right behind us that was empty and as a group of 4, we would’ve preferred to eat there vs. sitting side by side at the bar. i asked why we couldn’t sit there and he did clean it off for us. we might’ve gotten a little snippy with him but it was very frustrating. he said “it’s no one’s fault” and that they didn’t have enough servers. meanwhile the manager that told us it would be less than 20 minutes kept walking by us without a care in the world. we were clearly not happy and he ignored us. the bar was filled with people and the poor bartender (who was absolutely great) had to deal with serving all of us. also, we saw a couple of groups that had walked straight into the restaurant and sat at tables without having to wait. the excuse made no sense to us because we’ve literally seen busier restaurants with only one or two waiters. it wasn’t even packed here (except for the bar). sorry for the long-winded review but in short, do not come to mexicue unless you intend to sit at the bar. it’s a great spot for drinks with a pretty view outside, but it is not worth the hassle of waiting for a table. management sucks and after all that, the food wasn’t even that great. the only reason i’m giving service two stars is because of the bartender will. he really was great and dealt with us being pissed 😂. i hope this place gets new management soon

Service was good, Tisha was great! But at 2:15 pm on A Saturday after we had ordered, we were told there was NO beef or pork ready. I was advised by the general manager that it was because of a “special party” they had??? He was neither apologetic and just full of excuses. Clearly lacking in the service industry experience. Definitely poor planning… and instead of catering to the customer was just defending the clearly ludicrous notion of a Mexican restaurant failing to prepare enough pork & beef during a Saturday afternoon lunch??? Definitely an amateur operation. Don’t waste your money going there… much better Mexican places in Stamford and the surrounding Towns.

I freaking love this place. Their queso is amazing and their portions are huge. I’m so sad the one in Westport closed

The food is terrible. The brunch unlimited mimosa for 90 mins is priced right. Don’t go there hungry if you’re familiar with Mexican food or fresh food or good food in general. Eat somewhere else and then go for the ambiance.

It's a really nice casual place with great views. There is outside seating, but I stayed inside due to the heat. Good thing is, you still have beautiful views from the inside. Staff was very friendly. Food was good. I had a BBQ rice bowl and my wife had the Pulled Pork Enchiladas which was very spicy

Good food overall but service is very slow and unreliable. Did not see our waiter for 20+ minutes and had to track him down to get the check. Also got our food before our drinks. Sangria was not good.

Family raved about this spot, I went on a Monday night and they had a gorgeous view on boardwalk. Margaritas were good, so was the street corn, had great crema. Tacos are on the pricier side but the flavor was great! My boyfriend had the quesadilla which came with rice and beans. We were disappointed when the rice came out crispy and overcooked, However they were apologetic and our waitress was sweet enough to get 10% off for the rice and beans. Overall positive just wish they had more options on the menu.

Decent view. Food okay if you are wasted.
I ordered a burrito for $19. added the brisket which add $7 to the price. So after tax and tip, it’s a $30+ burrito. Not getting into details, but kitchen doesn’t care what they put out. Also I was supposed to get rice and beans. Never served them. Waiter told me they don’t come with them and argued. Photo proof below.
Holy crap, just reading through other bad reviews. There is a photo FROM A DIFFERENT REVIEW of the burrito with rice and beans. The server was totally lying.
Final edit, my 2 star has nothing to do with the rice and beans (that just made me angry and want to post). The 2 star was because the brisket was really bad,, burrito tiny, and the coleslaw was just a bunch of cabbage with a big squirt of whatever on the top. It was just very low effort, bad food.

Gorgeous little restaurant on the water! My daughter and son-in-law raved about their tacos, and they didn't disappoint! The loaded nachos were scrumptious, as was my brisket taco and the rice and beans! Service was professional, fast and friendly and the view was spectacular! Definitely recommend!

Excellent place to hangout. We had guacamole, different types of tacos and homemade Margherita. Nachos were on the house and the staff were too kind to us. Thanks!

Decent food. I ordered a small chips and guac, the charred green chili quesadilla with chicken, and the grilled burrito with chicken. The flavors were okay — the cheese was a bit odd, very soft like American cheese, and didn’t have the best taste. Service was somewhat slow despite there being few customers. That said, I’d like to come back to try the tacos and give this place a second chance.

Lovely place in Stamford, Connecticut. By the river front, the food here is delicious. The server was also on point with her recommendations.
It was pouring down heavily after a while and they were kind enough to not shoo us away.
The tacos, the rice bowls were outstanding.

Staff here were excellent and were able to accommodate us getting in earlier than our reservation was so we could beat the rain. We shared a couple of things and thought it was pretty great texmex! Have also been to a location in NYC and the quality of the food was pretty similar. Great if you’re in the mood for chips, queso, and a margarita!
