I travelled in India for work and ate everything that was offered to me. Often, the food brought me to tears being so different from my lifetime of bland food experiences. I had chicken tikka kebabs, samosas, and biriyani yesterday from A Taste of India in Mystic and was taken back to my travels. They are the real deal and every bite was excellent.

One of two of the better Indian restaurants in the area (other in New London). App., main dish came with rice and naan, and an extra bread was ordered. Meal came out flavorful, textured, and portioned perfectly for two or leftovers. It's worth the visit and for <$35 with tip.

Wow, hidden gem, Mystic is better for having this place. Vegan and vegetarian food was sooo good. I think the lower rating must be due to racism or something - you have to try this place!
I’ve had Indian food all over America and this is top 10 (others are New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Covington, Texas, etc)

Usually it is great. However tonight, we picked up our take out order and it was all wrong. Trying to call the number for over an hour now, and keep getting some robot voice. Guess they don't want more business.

Eaten here a few times over the years. last visit really hot the spot. don't know if we were extra hungry or chef was extra rocking it, but we had a great mall. very hospitable too (not busy).
roadside indian, come without pretensions, and enjoy your meal.
i think they use ghee. didn't ask, but it felt like ghee. onion pakoras with chutneys (cilantro, tamarind) were excellent. solid chana masala, good thick saag paneer. fresh garlic naan was great.
Ordered two vindaloo curries tonight. The best curry I have had I. a long time. The spice was perfect, generous amounts of chicken and less potatoes.

Authentic food. Good ‘Indian’ breads. Good Spicy moderate/mild options. I enjoyed it so much that changed plans to eat there again.

Disappointing Experience
I ordered the spicy lamb vindaloo and chicken masala. Unfortunately, both dishes were a letdown. The vindaloo had far more potatoes than lamb, which felt like a way to bulk up the dish—and it really ruined the experience. The chicken masala was worse: dry, old chicken that had no business being served.
That said, the sauces and spice levels were actually on point—flavorful and well-balanced. But it’s unacceptable to use dried-out chicken, especially in a signature dish. And please, don’t pad the lamb curry with potatoes. It undermines trust and quality.
Both dishes ended up in the trash. This used to be my favorite, but something has clearly changed. I hope these issues are addressed.

This is a small but good place to get Indian food. I tried the Paneer Tikka Masala and the Veg Korma. The Paneer Tikka Masala was good but the Veg Korma was a bit too dry.The tea, however, was excellent.

Stayed in mystic for a month abt a year ago & have been thinking abt this food since. Everything is absolutely delicious & their samosas have no business being so good. I’ve had a lot throughout my life & easily these are the best. Everything is 10/10. I often consider driving 6hrs to pick up from this place. If you have the chance, do it.
