Got milk tea with tapioca and found that they put hot tapioca pearls in cold tea. It’s well understood that hot tapioca is nowhere as chewy as cold tapioca and it significantly alters the experience of milk tea. For $7 milk tea, that’s the least attention to detail I’d expect.

online says open until 9:30, drove half an hour for it just for them to be closed half an hour early. all employees just walked into the back and the door was locked.

So annoyed that once again, for the second time, I came after 9 and they said they’re already closed. But their business says 9:30. It is extremely disappointing. We live 30 minutes away and drive all the way here. But they don’t care. Just want to leave early. If it says 9 now it’s because I suggested the change.

Best bubble tea in Storrs, I get it almost every time I'm downtown. Always get the rose milk tea with lychee jelly and mango popping boba. They've got both kiosks and face-to-face ordering, and their drinks come out pretty quick. I usually choose to order from the kiosks so I can mull over my options longer, and adjust sweetness/toppings.Their new egg waffles take a little longer, about 5-7 minutes.

Easily the worst bubble tea I’ve ever had. The boba was basically a pile of slime with a strange chemical taste. The tapioca balls were mostly dissolved / drowning in this brown slime. How this place is still in business serving a product like this is beyond me.

Extremely Disappointed – A Taroless Taro Fresh Milk TeaI had the most frustrating experience at this tea shop today, and I can't help but share my utter disappointment. I ordered their taro fresh milk tea, a drink I've enjoyed here before, but this time was a complete letdown. To put it bluntly, it felt like I was sipping on plain milk with a hint of something that barely resembled taro. The taro was so lacking that it made me question whether it was forgotten or intentionally skimped on. When I went back to ask the cashier about the missing taro, they shockingly pointed to the tiny, almost invisible white residue clinging to the cup's inner wall and claimed that was taro. To say that I was taken aback would be an understatement; I couldn't see it, taste it, or even fathom that this was the same taro fresh milk tea I had enjoyed previously.Comparing this experience to my past visits, it's evident that the quantity and quality of taro used have significantly diminished. I regularly indulge in taro fresh milk tea from various places, and it's disheartening that this particular store has chosen to compromise on what used to be a delightful drink.I wanted to enjoy a rich, creamy, and taro-infused beverage, but what I received was a far cry from it. I sincerely hope the management takes customer feedback seriously and addresses this issue because it's unacceptable to serve such subpar drinks. In conclusion, I won't be returning to this establishment for my taro fresh milk tea, and I strongly discourage anyone seeking a true taro experience from doing so either. It's not just about the cost; it's about delivering what's promised to customers. My disappointment couldn't be more profound.

Looked like only takeouts. Not so much welcoming or friendly but the service was quick. Walked in and literally no other customers and two people behind the counter just looked at us. No greeting or anything. First time at the whale tea and I was overly excited. Didn't know I had to use the kiosk to order I had no idea what fresh milk meant but I've tried alot of bubble teas in my life so I was confident. I tried to be healthy and order less sugar and it was my bad. It tasted so overwhelming and kind gross. Ordered a taro fresh milk bubble tea but Too much stuff at the bottom and I felt like I was drinking a porridge. I should've known better. Maybe next time I order the brown sugar one and try not to be healthy.

Really cute inside and good tea, I would definitely go back. Lost a star because they barely used any matcha powder & we ordered online but they never clicked ready… we had been waiting a while and just went in and it had been ready. Other than that they had reusable cups which was nice, tapioca was perfect & the ingredients were good quality.Dietary restrictions: They had non dairy options however the drinks we got (white taro & creme brûlée matcha) were only available with regular milk. Limited options if you want to be able to opt for the non dairy milk.

Great Tea, Great People, Great Environment with one comment: Sometimes the tapioca is overcooked.Compared to other locations and this is the missing link to get full five stars.

Whale Tea has the best boba in Storrs! They have so many options and the modifications are really great, with options for different sugar levels and alternative milks. The new egg waffle snacks are also really delicious and cute! Sometimes it can take a little while to get your order but it's usually not too bad. I recommend using the Snackpass app they use to order ahead and avoid waiting too long.

Ordered the egg waffles. They were dry and overpriced. They don't come with filling and if you want it, you have to pay even more. We had to wait extra long for our food because 2 of the workers were on their phones and the other 2 were chatting.
