Open Door Tea 🫖 is the quintessential Tea Room located in the heart of New England. What makes it so special? The cosy and inviting atmosphere, the variety of charming tea cups complete with saucers, the comfy & varied seating, friendly staff, the availability of tea-things for purchase, the house-made menu items including breakfast, lunch, high tea and delectable sweet treat (vegan options are always available) and last but certainly not least, the best selection of teas. After your first visit want to return again and again.

Love this place. I grew up in Stratford and I have to say this is one of the best things to have popped up in town. The food is delicious and so are the baked goods. The space is cozy and feels like an old fashioned tea house. I come here almost daily for takeout when I’m home visiting. I hope this place never goes anywhere

Wonderful relaxing tea room. The food selections are healthy and delicious. Desserts are varied and include gluten free options. The tea selection is vast and varied. Staff will help guide you in selecting one and they are always kind.

Unfortunately I was told that they were not taking any more orders and it was 02:45pm, clients were in the dinning area, a couple’s order right in front of me at the counter was taken…but I was told to leave. I am so heartbroken by this treatment. I will NEVER dine here again, nor recommend. If a long time patron is already at the counter and people are still seated dinning, take that person as your last customer….there was no one behind me…don’t shut the door on a client…EVER!

Wanted to like this place but as a first timer I was confused about what to do. I heard the same sentiment from 5 other people arriving- maybe put up a sign with directions?
We were served tea but no cups. The brownie was served frozen so we ended up taking it to go.
The flow of people in the queue area between shopping and ordering was just chaos- made me the opposite of relaxed.

I really like this place! Since Tea With Tracy closed it's hard to find cafes specializing in tea! Lots of tasty items on the menu, along with a curated selection of baked goods and desserts. I appreciate the variety of vegetarian and vegan options.
Tea is served with an hourglass, for appropriate steep time, and in tea cups with saucers. Very charming and delightful, especially with the mismatched furniture creating an eclectic, cozy look. Great atmosphere for conversation, dates, reading, and more.

The negatives:
- Bussing service was lacking, some of the small tables fill up with lots of plates pretty quickly. You end up having to make trips towards the kitchen to drop empty ones off, so you have more room.
- Despite there being an extensive tea selection, there are no descriptions for any of them. Some teas don't require much explanation, like decaf black. But "immunity blend", "berry bliss", and others have no description. It would be good to know what exactly is in them. This is not only important for people who want to make choices of preference, but also dietary restrictions. I guess you could look at the packaged tea in the little gift shop in the back, and cross-reference those with the teas on the menu. But the full list is only in a pamphlet at the register and there are no descriptions aside from what category of tea it is (black, green, etc...).
I guess they expect you to ask what all of these blends are, but there are more than 50 available. It's not conducive to a fast ordering process.
The tea names are also on labels of jars far back behind the counter. But they are hard to read in between people who fill up the line to order, or the labels are not 100% visible because the jar is turned away.
- In the bathroom there is a sign advertising an afternoon tea service that the business offers. That is the only place I saw it mentioned. I suggested to a staff member that they put that sign in the main area to advertise it better. They said they hadn't thought of that. I thought this was really strange. What if no one went in the bathroom during their visit? How would they find out about this fun offering? I can't think of any places in the area that offer afternoon tea (with a tiered tray of tiny foods) anymore.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. They answered my question and let me smell the tea I was purchasing before so I could get a sense of the profile, which I appreciate. The Chai is delicious and well balanced, as I’d hoped!

I got a latte to go, which was delicious and a couple of desserts. My husband said the chocolate tart with a macaroon crust was fantastic. My carrot cake? Divine!

I will be back!
