Oxford dictionary defines a critic as “a person who judges the merits of literary, artistic, or musical works, especially one who does so professionally.” Here I am in that position. Do I judge the pizzeria purely on the merits of the Pizza? Would I be wrong to judge the restaurant on its merits as a whole, service included? 8/10 - good pizza with bad service.

I love this place. I grew up spending the summer at my cousin's house a half mile away. All winter long I would dream about this ah-beets made with scamorza. What a memory. I live over an hour away but every once in awhile I make the trip. It's so worth it!!

CONNECTICUT HISTORY ? One of the greatest family-style restaurants of ALL TIME. Plum-Tomato season is a Rite. Of. Passage. Absolutely devastated they will close, and would mortgage my entire home for one more evening with New England’s greatest pie. Thank you Salerno’s, for being the kitchen of our generation. ?️?❤️‍??

Delicious salad and bread basket. However, the pizza was not right. We let the waitress know when she asked. The pizza sauce and meatball had no taste at all. The cheese seemed clumpy not stringy. We were told a seasoning packet previously used was not being used anymore (?).We were surprised that after expressing our disappointment that no courtesy adjustment was applied. I expected more from Salernos, it used to be a favorite. On a prior visit a few weeks ago another table asked the waitress if the business was under new management because they said the pizza and cheese did not seem the same to them.

Hate to say it- but pizza is low grade. No more then 2 stars if that! No flavor in the sauce, cheese is just not cheesy enough just overall horrible. Plenty other great pizza & good quality food around better off skipping this one!

The waitress is very nice and polite. She was running the entire restaurant. She is not at fault. My family and I got to the restaurant at 6pm. Did not get our dinner until 7:40. 2 tables sat after us - dined, paid, left - all while we were still waiting. The wait was ridiculous. After a near 2 hour wait, I thought we’d get comped for some of our food. Didn’t! Ended up asking for some $ off and got it. Again not the waitress’s fault, but absolute awful business

Make sure to check what you are being charged BEFORE you leave! I am unsure why I keep giving this place chances honestly, probably because it was once my favorite place to get take out. I’m assuming they are under new management after the pandemic and I cannot tell you a single time I have been there recently that I was pleased with. You are constantly told 30-35 minutes but when you show up within that time get told it’s not ready yet and have to wait another 20 minutes to get your food. The food has very much gone down hill as well, nothing tastes the same (homemade) as it did when I used to go there frequently. This recent time took the cake though, I ordered a small salad, bread, and 8 meatballs and got charged $50? The girl at the front didn’t even know the prices of what she was charging me and when she asked the cook or manager or whoever he was he tells her to call it “$40” and yet somehow i’m walking out of there paying $50? I get in my car and begin to drive home when I realize that makes no sense. I go back to the restaurant and immediately ask them how much they charge for 2 meatballs, I get the response “$5” after both people at the front look at each other for a couple of seconds almost not knowing their own prices. Now, any single person who can do simple math knows $5 x 4 sets of 2 meatballs is $20. Of course you need to add on the bread and salad but surely they weren’t $29 right? The guy gave me $25 back in cash (by my request) but I would've just paid $50 for meatballs, a salad and bread if I didn’t double check with them. You’d think that they should know but I guess not. Will no longer be going here, super unfortunate.

It's been a while since we last ate here. We didn't dine in. Ordered two large pizzas, and to be honest, it was disappointing. They were salty and greasy, and for some reason, the pepperoni pizza was drenched in parm cheese (without our request)

Not very tasty at all! Asked for sliced tomatoes and we got extra extra pizza sauce. The sauce also tasted straight out of a jar. We have had pizza from here before so not sure what happened but do not recommend!!! Waited over 80 mins mediocre pizzaUpdate: ended up getting sick after eating their pizza

I ordered a meatballs pasta from Ubereats.. I was more than excited for those meatballs! Nothing was more disappointing than receiving my order with no meatballs it was just fettuccine with sauce thats it. Other than the mistake at least the pasta was good

Placed a large order was told 34- 40 minutes. Order was ready 1 hour. Ham and cheese calzone had barely any ham or mozzarella and the meatball one not much by way of meatball and mozzarella, both mostly filled with ricotta. Had to wait additional time for the orders of house bread to come out of the oven to get home and find that the were over cooked and extremely crispy. Not my normal Salernos experience. Very disappointing as this was Birthday dinner for my daughter and granddaughter.

We Walked in at 5 Saturday 2 weeks ago. No one acknowledged us just walked by, then one girl told the other loudly I’m not taking another table. We are/were both restaurant people servers etc 20+ years as is most of my family.I just turned and walked out, no need to stay and be abused!

It's not what it used to be pre-covid idk if their trying to get back in the swing of things but for the place being empty when I went the server paid more attention to her phone than a paying customer. The food was just as inattentive looked thrown together with poor execution ordered angel hair with oil and garlic easy right? Nope pasta was overcooked cheap olive oil was uses and the garlic was still semi raw the complimentary bread was a grinder roll :/

The food is like a warm hug and a reminder of childhood. While I don’t visit here everyday, I saver the moments in the dining room with the lovely staff and even better food.

My husband and I ate at Salerno’s tonight; we both ordered lasagna. For starters, we were given a basket of freshly made garlic bread, followed by side salads that came with the meal. These salads, loaded with veggies, are big enough for a meal on their own.The lasagna was delicious! They came out pipping hot with fresh melted mozzarella. The homemade tomato sauce was delicious. You can just tell everything is homemade from scratch. This meal did not disappoint, and I bet all of the other meals are just as tasty! We will be back!
