My husband and I had lunch today in the Venetian Restaurant- a perfect Old School Italian restaurant in Torrington,CT.
The atmosphere was great, very welcoming, and the meals were amazing! Perfectly seasoned linguine Fini and linguine carbonara- the escarole and white beans were great as our appetizer and the tiramisu was made in house and heavenly! So glad we found this gem!

Great squash soup, bread, olive oil. Sadly veal Parmesan did not meet my standards- sauce too runny and no special flavor of basil or garlic. Wonderful hostess/ owner Tracy.

We did a nice autumn drive around Southwestern Massachusetts and Northwestern Connecticut. In the later afternoon/early evening on the drive home we were thinking of a place to stop for dinner while driving down Route 8. The first city I thought I was Torrington and then I remembered The Venetian restaurant. It’s been about 15 years or more since we had dinner there. I remember reading a few years ago that it changed ownership so we were curious to try it again. I had read that the new owners were still making the original owners recipes. When we arrived, it was a bit crazy(show at the Warner Theater) but when it was our turn in line, I didn’t realize we needed a reservation, but the hostess asked if we wanted to sit upstairs and we said we’re good wherever. It was a very quiet space, but it needs to be updated. It felt a little closed in. Anyway, after looking at the menu, we chose the meatball appetizer to share. We both had side salads that were included with our meals. My choice was the pasta with the Bolognese sauce and my partner had chicken Parmigiana. I’m happy to report that everything was very good. The Bolognese sauce was excellent. I took a few bites of my partners chicken Parmigiana and thought it was very good. Kelly was our server and she was very friendly and helpful. She also told us that the original owner comes in once a week and cooks. Next time we stop in, we will make sure we have a reservation. Nice to see a 100 year-old restaurant still serving delicious food!

I love the atmosphere of Old Italy, the delicious food and the exceptional waitstaff! On top of that, the prices are so reasonable.

Growing up in Torrington, our family would eat here from time to time. Now I live about 30-40 minutes away but whenever I want to have an authentic Italian meal, the Venetian Restaurant is my place to go - from special occasions to just going out to eat. The food is always delicious and the waitresses are very friendly.
I can't wait until the next time we eat here!

The Venetian is the Italian restaurant that time forgot - this place really hasn't changed over the decades! It remains a classic - and classy - restaurant. The homemade pasta tastes just like my Nonne's. Great atmosphere and ample parking. (The toilet paper is thin, but that's the only criticism I have.)

We lived in the area for 4 years and never tried the Venetian. Given the high reviews my husband decided to take me for my birthday this past Friday and I am so glad he did. For starters I am a service gal, nowadays it’s hard to find an establishment that provides good service, from the moment we walked in we were greeted by the staff and they were so genuine in conversation. The waitress was amazing, she was very informative and made recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious and incredibly fresh with homemade sauces. The prices for all dishes are very reasonable. I usually take home food I cannot finish but this was not the case here, I devoured my chicken parm and penne. My husband got a little sauce on his white shirt and the waitress literally came back to our table with a tide pen. This place is amazing and felt like home. We will definitely return not just for amazing service but absolutely delicious Italian food.

Kind people. Delicious food. Priced fairly. Vintage art on walls was neat and made it feel like being in Italy. Our waitress was excellent and so kind.

Not the same as it was. Wrinkled tablecloths and they changed the cheesecake they serve. It tasted like grocery store cake. The crust was not the light fluffy kind that it used to be. Dinner entrees were good.
