Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

Good selection, friendly workers. It does always smell bad when you walk into the store, like a gross smell covered up with bleach.

I go daily to get my fix of there custard and ice. Staff is very respectful and funny.

Disappointed with the 2024 spring/summer season due to the frequent unavailability of coconut and the 2025 season is off to a similarly disappointing start, which is unfortunate.

Rita's is an awesome place to have Italian ice with custard. The only thing I don't like is that there store smells like fabulouso it's a strong odor that doesn't go good with the atmosphere of the Italian ice

This is the second time I have visited this ice cream shop. I came back because the ice cream is good, but the guys who serve there were racist and they sold me the ice cream in a bad way.

It’s always kids or young looking people working when I go in but they’re always nice and work quickly (but without rushing themselves or anyone else).

Rita's is a staple of amazing custard, and nothing quite matches it. But guys, please hire more staff. It hurts to watch a new hire struggle with a massive line because of staffing shortages. She was doing amazing, by the way - the problem lies with management.

Great frozen treats! On a very busy night, the two servers were working hard and dealing out delightful custard and Italian ice treats to all the customers. Great job!!

IM HERE RIGHT NOW CLOSED AT 8:00!!Edit: Lying is not a good look! If you lost power can you explain why I saw the light on in the back room? And when my wife was calling and leaving a voicemail the light went off? No sign on the door? Facebook message about being closed? Cant find anything about a Vernon power outage? Nothing? I was there at 8:05 and never saw any lights turn back on at Rita’s! That’s when I drove to west Hartford and got better service. I will go to that Rita’s from now on!

Good stuff but kind of pricey.

The frozen custard is better than regular soft serve and the Italian ice is delicious too. The staff is friendly and professional. I do not recommend the Oreo custard sandwiches though. They're nearly impossible to eat because the cookies do not soften.
