Wanted to spoil my parents with a nice lunch here but the service was terrible. The hostess was rude and made us feel bad for running late for our reservation and the waitress was so unaccommodating. We arrived too late to order lunch by a few minutes but then she refused to put in an order for the bar food even a few minutes early.

Eatingout

The entire meal was a surprise and taste delight. We shared appetizers and entrees. Example of the surprises: squash broth infused with foie gras and the fried quails - usually just a mouthful, but stuffed with savory/sweet vegetables that made it extremely satisfying. The portions were generous; we had to take some of our entrees home. Service - we were the only diners - was exceptional. The food and beverage manager and the restaurant manager were attentive, efficient, and welcoming. Definitely will be regulars at The Garden Room.

We have been coming to your restaurant for years…dinner, lunch etc…....Today for our lunch, I asked for a slice of raw red onion with my $32.00 burger……may I also say that I had 3 glasses of a $31.00 Chablis so this is not about the price of the burger …….I was told after our wonderful bartender went to the kitchen to be sure that she could do that ??‍♀️… she then told me that she could not, you make no exceptions to the menu…. No omissions, no add ons…. Hmmmm…..She managed to snag me a ramekin of diced onions which made me more confused seeing that the onions come whole….Very disappointing! We actually live an hour away and have for many years been making your establishment a destination for us…… this will be changing….Monica YazbakP.S to the GM….Get your kitchen in line……Please do not respond to me with an automated answer…..we’ve been coming to you for too long, not newbies here!

Me and my Fiance felt like we were treated differently because of our appearance, maybe even our age. Our service was somewhat lacking, although it was not busy at all. The food was way overpriced and portions were too small to be 'shared' in the awkward menu format they are intended. I honestly recommend Lucia for anyone in the area dining on a special occasion, it is just as high end and priced similarly with better food and service. It was not all bad, the atmosphere was outstanding, and the steak was wondering, and also the young woman filling up our was extremely nice and apologetic for our service, her name does not come to mind.

The food was out of this world! The quality and flavor combinations were unparalleled. Not to mention the outstanding desserts. The ambiance is gorgeous. The service was top notch.

This place is really geared for hotel guests. We were annoyed by the relatively poor and cold service, rush to close (close at 2pm for Sunday brunch with the kitchen seeming to close on the dot) and them moving around tables for no reason right in the middle of the meal. Food was ok but didn't even really get a chance to enjoy it due to the rushed nature of the service. Very disappointing for a supposedly 5 star hotel.

Visited this location since Gilmore Girl's was inspired by it. It was highly decorative with fall decorations. A group of us girls were walking around and a gentleman came outside and took our group picture and asked where we were coming from. I cannot tell if he came out just to check on what we were doing or if he was genuinely being kind. I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and be grateful we got a group picture!

I went with my family for Thanksgiving Dinner. The restaurant is charming and offers a cozy ambiance, but the food was average and overpriced. It was not our first time there, and we all agreed that the fare was better in the past.

Today, my family (four adults total) went out for brunch at The Mayflower Inn's Garden Room. The seating was directly in front of a warm and sunny window which might work for some people but was too bright for me. The seating was a kind of couch-style, uncomfortable, and not long enough to stop my husband’s long arms from elbowing me accidentally throughout the meal. Ah…the meal. While my brunch-mates enjoyed their French toast and egg dishes, I was immediately sorry that I had ordered the falafel burger. It was a salt bomb, and also had burnt edges. I didn’t want to color the experience or the others, or make them wait while I re-ordered. I soldiered on, until I couldn’t, and then gave up. Now I know, order common brunch fare from now on and don't go outside the box! Additionally, my sister-in-law's Bloody Mary was weak and she decided to ask for a second one "extra spicy." On a positive note, the service was friendly (though repeated visits to our table were few) and the valet and other staff were warm and helpful when my elderly brother-in-law needed assistance. There were a number of young people on staff and they brightened the morning. My husband and I have enjoyed early dinners in the cozy Tap Room where a burger and fries really hits the spot. It's a great alternative to the over-bright Garden Room where it's not easy to feel "tucked away" on a day when you need a quiet moment. One note for the management: Please call back after someone leaves a message. I had some questions prior to reserving and was never contacted. It felt strange that a place of this stature wouldn't follow through.

We drove all the way from Greenwich C.T. to try the brunch at the Garden Room at this inn. I can't say enough about how disappointing the entire experience was from the beginning. First of all the room is small noisy and very unattractive, it more like a cheap hotel with dated furniture and wallpaper, just dreadful.. The real issues started with a very rude and inexperienced watress. They made us wait over 10 minutes before someone came over to ask if we would like a drink. We ordered and asked for some of their sourdough bread which never arrived. We placed our order for brunch and asked that they bring the oatmeal first and the remaining order to follow. They brought everything at the same time and we had to send back the order until we ate to iced cold oatmeal. When they brought out our salad and hamburger, the salad was drenched in dressing and was soggy and not eatable. The hamburger was raw as if they just put raw meat on a bun even though I asked for medium. No one came around to check if everything was ok and we couldn't find someone to get us another drink and tell them about the issues with the food. When they finally came all they said was I will speak to the chef, can you imagine giving customers that kinda of reply, they totally didn't care about the food being so bad. I am not sure who rates these restaurants with good ratings but take it from me this place is not even up to the standards of a good Greek diner, it is just awful in every way and shows how getting 5 star ratings is truly fabricated. Don't waste a single dime on coming here as you will regret wasting your money and time. STAY-FAR AWAY FROM THIS DUMP.

We made a reservation to have breakfast here although we didn't stay at the Inn. It was a great experience from start to finish. The property is beautiful! The ambiance and decor inside was beautiful as well. The food was delicious! The service was outstanding and the staff was very friendly. Would highly recommend!

The setting was lovely; very picturesque. The food was good but very overpriced. The same quality of food at a nice restaurant would easily have been half the price. The atmosphere and service were good.

The Garden Room decoration is weird - certainly not what I had hoped for. We were there on a chilly, cloudy day at the end of September. It felt cold and unwelcoming in the room. The menu was strange. They are trying too hard for something - but I'm not sure what. My trout was pink and hard and not like any trout I'd ever eaten. And the presentation was very bland. Just a slab of fish on a white plate. It complimented the chilly atmosphere. They should and can do so much better with the hotel.

The food served was just fair, which was a surprise given the hype around the executive chef. The menu options were very limited, the portions were small, the food lacked much taste and the wines were overpriced. I would not be inclined to eat at this restaurant again.
