I try to pop into Bailey’s at least once a week and lately I’ve been gravitating towards their Saturday prix fixe menu. Ed is a terrific chef and he has been creating some new,special dinners.
I’d like to start by saying that the portions are huge, I’m not sure how they make any money on them.
First course was sausage and potatoes with long hot peppers. Absolutely delicious and definitely a shareable plate.
Second was a cup of homemade chicken tortellini soup.
Main course was crab stuffed filet of sole with a lobster sauce, homemade mashed potatoes and green beans almondine.
The dinner is finished with a generous slice of red velvet cake, which I declined because I was stuffed. Half of the appetizer came home with me, but I did finish the rest of it. if I wasn’t starving when I walked in, I probably could’ve easily gotten two complete meals out of this.
They normally have three or four appetizers, three or four soup offerings and four main courses, so there’s absolutely something for everyone.
How much would you expect to spend on a dinner of this caliber? How about 25 bucks?
The atmosphere is comfortable, the patrons are genuine Waterbury folks, the staff is friendly and engaging. Alderman Jeff Hunter lays down some great R&B tracks as a happy hour DJ on Fridays and Sundays.
I’ll complete this by saying that I am past retirement age and feel extremely comfortable with everybody here. The kitchen is open until 10 PM.

As I've said many times. I love a Hole in the Wall spot. Bailey's Cafe might take the Cake.If you are near or far definitely stop in for lunch! I indulged in a savory Chipotle Bacon ? Ranch Burger made to order, fresh thick sliced vegetables with steak fries. The Bourbon Wings made me Regret only ordering 6 should've taken 12 more home ???. Sweet potato fries for the win crispy to the order, fresh coleslaw..... The Bill came to $37 something I tipped $15. Compliments to the Chef. If you are reading this go get the Bourbon wings ??????Picture below disregard my hand I was getting ready to devour that burger ?

Ed did a great job fixing the place up. The food is great and inexpensive. A nice atmosphere that draws in a local crowd. I have been visiting this place under many names over 30 years and by far this is the best.

Highly recommend Starr and Jen were so friendly and made our drinks dead right we've been searching for a nice local place and we finally found it can't wait to come back and they said they have karaoke with prizes omg I will definitely be there for that love love love even the server came out an chatted all the staff is phenomenal hidden gem with very good vibes ❤️

The atmosphere is really nice. The service was warm and friendly. The food was amazing! The shrimp cocktail was the best ever with eight jumbo shrimp with lovely fruit on the side. I had a BLT wrap with sweet potatoe fries. Flavor and f the sweet potato fries was delicious. Definitely will be back. Not to mention excellent drinks. Thanks Baily’s! 🍀
