After much anticipation, my fiancé and I went to Diorio to celebrate our anniversary several months ago! This spot has been high on my list of restaurants to visit ever since they reopened after COVID and remodeling. The interior was so charming, with a classy vintage feel that I absolutely loved. The menu definitely had some good choices, and while everything we ordered was good, we did agree that we’ve had better. Mostly we thought my fiancé’s ribeye could’ve used more seasoning, but the truffle butter that he had with it definitely added to the flavor. The pasta with my chicken parm was a bit cold, so it must’ve been plated before the chicken. One of the highlights for us though was when the waitress came around with a platter to showcase their desserts - it helped us make our decision on the banana banoffee and chocolate cake. The banoffee was excellent, but the chocolate cake was a little dry. Overall, I do think this is a great option to have in downtown Waterbury, and I would still come back to try some other dishes. We came on a weeknight and were impressed to see that it got pretty busy at peak dinner time!

Horrible service. Took 26 minutes for our waiter to take our order. We tried to get his attention after 15 minutes and he snappily answered he will be there in a minute. Not what I expected at all in a restaurant with such good reviews. KT or whatever your name was. You are not a good server ?Food was ok but service made me not hungry.

From a welcoming reception to a sincere thank you as we left for the evening, everything was perfect. Service was friendly, prompt, and attentive. Cocktails were perfect. We had the rib-eye steak and chicken parmigiana; both were excellent as was the cheesecake and crème brûlée for dessert. An after dinner drink at the bar was the perfect nightcap. I highly recommend this restaurant. There is also free parking in the ramp garage directly across the street.

I’m very disappointed in the service that we received last night, we had reservations for my birthday, the food was mediocre especially for the price and what occurred before we left the building… my s/o got the shrimp scampi which he didn’t even eat because it was unfortunately that bad (this is relevant for later). As we were leaving a member of our party forgot their leftovers, I’m presuming the owner called us back to which my partner went to grab it for our friend and as he was walking to get it this gentleman looked at him and said something along the lines of “there you go big guy, in case you get hungry later” my partner is heavier set and to reiterate those were not his leftovers which is despite the point. Our friend grabbed the bag from him and we left, all of us appalled by the audacity of someone to make such a comment after we spent money at their establishment. We certainly will not be back, honestly the reality is that this placeCould have been the best on the planet, but after being disrespected like that we wouldn’t step foot anywhere near it.

We were agreed warm. The three of us had a nice booth. Our waitress was great. She was warm, attentive and checked on us regularly but not overbearing. The place still has a great old school vibe . We had fried calamari with Asian chili sauce. Tasty. Clams casino seasons perfectly. Two pasta specials with lobster and shrimp. Just needed a little black pepper. Pasta with sausage. Didn't need anything else. Then tiramisu, New York style cheesecake and one of their special banana cream pie desserts. All desserts were spot on. Definitely a place I would recommend . Definitely a place I will return to soon.

I booked this for my daughter's 23rd birthday and then was struck with a stomach bug and couldn't attend, and one of the workers there was rude and demeaning to someone in her party, making crass comments about a persons weight in her party. Thanks for ruining the experience Diorios, we surely will never be back.

I haven't been to Diorios in years! 12 years at least! I was very happy to see they reopened after closing for some time due to water damage back in 2020. The interior is still just as it was, they really did an amazing job renovating. We went for Valentine's Day and had a delicious meal. I started with a Bees Knees cocktail which was a bit more sour lemon- y than I've had. My husband started with clams casino which he absolutely loved. For our entrees I had the halibut on the specials menu, it came with a puttanesca sauce which I got on the side. The fish was tender and flavorful and the risotto on the side was Al Dente, with a creamy texture. Very tasty. My husband had the penne ala vodka with chicken. It was really good. Great sauce chicken was tender. Of course when you see the dessert tray come over, you have to get something! They all look so tasty! We went with the banoffee pie. Very good. Pretty light and a lot of great flavors from the chocolate crust with caramel, banana and whipped cream. We will be back much sooner than 12 years! Such a classic staple in Waterbury!

Very lovey Valentines Day dinner, Appreciated that there was not a "special Valentines Day menu." Food was outstanding. Wife had the Gemelli w sausage that is super. Sasha was our waitress and she did a fantastic job.

We used to eat at Diorio in the past and hadn't been there for a while. We were sad to see that they closed but when they reopened we were excited because we always had a great meal there. The disappointment was that this time the food was just ok and one of our appetizers that was supposed to be hot was cold and it was a lot more expensive. Probably won't go back.

What a fantastic restaurant! My husband and I were meeting my parents for a show at the Seven Angels Theater, and wanted to have dinner before and we couldn't have picked a better spot, Diorio's was the vibe! We were greeted by a lovely hostess and charming gentleman who found us seats at the bar, where the bartender was speedy and knew how to mix a cocktail! Service continued to be spot on, food was just as delicious as the ambiance was charming! We can't wait to go back!

The main courses were great, however the calamari definitely was a disappointment. First of all, it was cold and didn't seem fresh. The waitstaff seemed distracted. If I was a waiter there, I would drop by on occasion to ask if everything was good...I would recommend Diorio but to avoid the calamari which is disappointing in an Italian restaurant.

From the moment we walked in, each staff member we encountered was friendly and efficient! Our server Cara was absolutely fabulous! She shared a bit of history with us about the booths- carved in the 1920's. The food was amazing! Starting with the olive oil and carried through the entire meal. 2 in our party said it was the best lobster bisque they ever had. We can't wait to go back!!!!

As always this wonderful establishment consistently offers fresh excellently prepared food with great service in a “time frozen” setting. The walls on both sides of the traditional pub/dining area are lined with cozy wood encased booths that make for an incredible intimate evening. A REAL GEM that will not disappoint.
