Nothing but good things to say about this place. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We ordered the babaganush appetizer, chicken gyro platter, and tavuk sis. Eveything was exceptional in flavor and certainly in portions. The bread they serve you is off the chart good and you may have a hard time trying not to fill up on it. Very pleasant atmosphere inside and again, the staff are part of that. We went there to try something new and Sofra is a big winner! Happy we found it and it is worth the trip even if you do not live close by.

We were sorry to hear that our beloved Turkish Chef is not the owner anymore :(

Went for my mother's birthday and were immediately seated even with a large event there. The waiters were kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. I appreciated their ability to give us space to eat and relax as a family but be close by if we needed anything. We got the mixed appetizer plate to share which was amazing, and a Sofra which the staff helped us choose to see what we wanted. Everything was amazing down to the salad and bread, every member of our party was excited to try everything since everything seemed to be a home run. High recommended.

Nice to find such a gem of a restaurant in Waterbury!! I can’t pronounce anything on the menu but every single delicacy I’ve encountered has been exceptional!! Found myself having both lunch and dinner in the same day just to try the different treats on the menu! Their red lentil soup is out of this world! Ordered twice, ate once as a soup, and then as a sauce over pasta. Then the little bit left over I mixed with the tzatziki sauce and dipped the warm pita in it. Everything had been exceptional! Perfectly seasoned, fresh flavors, and didn’t have an outrageous wait time. The staff including the chef are quick to attend to explaining what the dishes are as well as offering pairings to enhance the dining experience. I loved going in for lunch and seeing the tables all elegantly set, ready and waiting for anybody to come and discover this tastebud exploration, but was in awe when I came back the same night to pick up dinner and to see each table without an inch of standing room filled with families with children, couples, and solo guests, smiles on their faces, platters of edible art in front of them, enjoying themselves and the feast prepared for them. Highly recommended.

I had a different experience than many other reviewers. We were not well attended to in the least, they favored other diners who came in after us, and it’s worth mentioning we were the only ones in the entire restaurant who didn’t keep halal. It was clear they didn’t want our repeat business. It’s worth mentioning we had been here over the winter under different ownership and it was a 10/10 experience. I would never come back here again.

So glad to have found this little gem during our travels! Our waiter was kind and professional. The atmosphere was upscale with a casual vibe, not pretentious. We ordered appetizers to share as we weren't hungry enough for a meal and they were DELISH! The vanilla ice cream was creamy and decadent, not sure if it was homemade. Definitely a great place for a romantic dinner or a group of friends to gather!

Exceptional food and service from an unassuming storefront. Dennis (waiter) could not have been more friendly, patient of accommodation and set the perfect atmosphere. Started with the babaganoush and carrot dips were very delicious. The mixed grill plate was amazing, everything was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was top notch. The kunefe was highly recommended for dessert and was to die for. Went perfect with the custard and Turkish coffee. I highly recommend this establishment and cannot wait to go back, thank you for a great experience!

We had a delicious lunch today at Sofra. Our waiter Dennis couldn’t have been more knowledgeable and accommodating. We enjoyed all of his recommendations and both the food and the service were wonderful. I’ve been wanting to try this spot for a while now, and I wasn’t disappointed!

My family and I had the pleasure of dining at Sofra Turkish Grill this past Sunday, and it was truly a standout experience! We ordered the Karisik Izgara (Mixed Grill Platter for 5), and the presentation alone was jaw-dropping—flames, smoke, and a stunning display of beautifully grilled meats and sides.
The platter came with a generous mix of Adana kebab, chicken shish, meatballs, lamb chops, lamb shish, and chicken gyro, served alongside rice, bulgur, cucumber sauce, grilled tomato and peppers, and a fresh side salad. Every bite was packed with flavor—the meats were tender and well-seasoned, and the variety made it perfect for our family-style sharing, something we really value coming from a Guyanese background.
The staff was fantastic—welcoming, patient, and accommodating even though we showed up as a party of six without a reservation. They made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of.
We also grabbed Baklava with pistachio and a chocolate version to go, and both were absolutely amazing—flaky, sweet, and just the right finish to an incredible meal.
We’re definitely planning to return soon to try even more of the menu. If you’re looking for authentic Turkish food, warm hospitality, and a great dining experience, Sofra is a must-visit!
