Today, I went to Southern Tree for the first time. Their food is amazingly delicious and well seasoned! Also, they have great service!
I was pleasantly surprised. All of the items they serve are staples of soul food cuisine. The food is addictive and I have been to the restaurant for the 3rd time within a week. I highly recommend Southern Tree!!
The food is absolutely delicious! If you want a really good soul food meal but don’t feel like cooking this is THE place. Don’t think twice. If you are looking for great down home meal at a reasonable price Southern Tree is it!

Southern Tree offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff who make every guest feel right at home. The food is described as the best soul food in Connecticut, cooked to perfection with great seasoning, freshness and taste. Guests love the variety of dishes, from fried shrimp and fish dinner with collard greens and yams to catfish, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, chili wings, potato salad, banana pudding and peach pound cake with peach cobbler. Portions are amazing and the meals arrive hot, even after a long drive home. Service is excellent and customer service from every staff member is kind, friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean and the smell inside is like heaven on earth. Many recommend the fried shrimp, fish dinner, macaroni and cheese, and the home made tartar sauce. The owner provides great suggestions and eased anxiety for special events, delivering food on time for celebrations. Prices are decent and the flavors are home made and amazing. Guests plan to return and try more options, hoping one day a food truck will bring this cuisine to the whole state.
