We were celebrating a birthday in our party. What stands out at Artisan is the ambience. The indoor/outdoor seating with string lights and garden are pure delight. You feel like you are in CA. When it comes to food and service it was a mixed bag. Server was friendly but food did take a while to get out (on a busy Friday night). We also waited a little while to get our orders taken. The appetizers were better than entrees. Pork Belly, Tuna Tartar were delish. The cheese platter and clams casino (4-5 half shells, pricey) were so so. The mains (Cioppino, Pork Chop, Hanger Steak, Scallops) were good, not phenomenal. Everyone raved about the Dubai Chocolate Cake. Overall, we all had a lovely evening. Would return for another special celebration.
On Open Table it said you are not allowed to make reservations for outdoor seating but it was first come first served. We really only chose the restaurant because of the gorgeous outdoor patio. Sp we arrived a little early hoping to request an outdoor table and were told we had to request outdoor in the “special request” section despite the fact that it clearly stated you could not request an outdoor table when I made my reservation.
The meal was excellent and most of the service was good except for one issue that they didn't handle well. There were a couple of fruit flies flying around our table and one of them eventually landed in one of our party's wine glass. When she brought it to the waiter's attention, he made a joke out of it and then asked her if she wanted a spoon to remove the insect. She asked for a clean glass with the wine replaced. The manager came by with only a clean glass assuming that she would refill from the bottle of wine we were drinking. We had to ask him to replace the wine that was discarded with the insect. No apology and the manager looked visibly annoyed.
The menu was varied and creative with a lot of items sourced from local farms. I'm one that tends to look at the winelist first and although the list was very short it was expertly curated.
The food, the service, and the overall experience were wonderful. I highly recommend the Sunday brunch. You will not be disappointed.
Great food-relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant-you will not be disappointed.
Beautiful outdoor seating under the pergola. Service was top notch. The food and drinks were delicious. My only feedback is the lack of more parking in the tiny lot designated for the restaurant. And currently, use of the valet is only permitted for hotel guests. They should allow folks to use the valet for the restaurant as well since the lot is always full.
We had a perfect birthday brunch for a large table of family, with excellent service from everyone!
We had an early dinner on Sunday July 13. It was a beautiful evening, we sat outside which is cozy and charming. The wait staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu options. I ordered the heirloom tomato-watermelon appetizer. The tomatoes were tasteless, perhaps my fault for ordering out-of-season. There were perhaps 3 pea-sized crumbles of feta, why so stingy? The watermelon was perfect. On to the entree, grilled swordfish. It was overcooked, dry and tasteless. I felt bad for the fish that gave its life to be served in this manner. We passed on dessert. For cocktails we ordered manhattans, which were perfect.
We ate here a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. Maybe because it was an early dinner? Because it was a Sunday? Disappointing.
Best place to take ya lady

This is the first time I’ve been here. It’s very classy and intimate if you’re looking to take a date here. I thought the food was very good and it came out very quickly. It wasn’t too loud which was great and they didn’t have any music blasting. Music was on but it was low enough that you could have a conversation. The only complaint I have is that the parking just like much of W. Hartford Center is challenging. But there was a wedding going on at the hotel at the time. So I can understand the challenges.
Still great, especially during warmer months for outdoor sitting. I hope the menu will have a few new additions soon. Some of the items have been there for a few years. Georgia was an excellent waitress. The rest of the staff were good too.
Good food with excellent staff and nice atmosphere
This was the first time I wasn't overly impressed with the Artisan. It was the little things that you expect at a fine dining establishment, that we off. For example, I ordered coffee that came to me just warm. They replaced it with another cup that wasn't much warmer. Coffee is simple to make so I was quite surprised. I had an Italian pasta dish and I had to ask for grated cheese. I waited quite awhile before it finally came and my dinner was not very warm. I love The Artisan. It's usually top shelf but not today.
This was not our first dining experience at the Artisan. We continue to dine at the Artisan whenever we're in town because the food and service are consistently excellent. Would highly recommend and continue to dine there.
