This restaurant was recommended on some gluten free groups, so I gave it a try. Very disappointing and I won't be back. There are GF options for many dishes, but the flavor is just meh. My non-GF friend had the General's Chicken. It tasted odd. The sauce tasted slightly chemical. I'm not sure what kind of spice they used. It was spicy but it didn't seem to have any peppers in it at all. It lacked that sweet and spicy balance with less than crispy chicken pieces. The accompanying egg roll wasn't very flavorful.I got the GF fried spring rolls. It was great to have the option, but the filling was very wet making the inside of the roll odd and mushy. The GF Mongolian Chicken came in a very thin sauce that tasted mostly like soy sauce. It didn't have the richness of ginger and the thicker, sweeter sauce I expect from this dish. It wasn't spicy at all. The only flavor was soy sauce. Usually the recipe calls for the meat to be dredged in corn starch and fried, but this was just chicken and some veggies. It wasn't completely awful, but it bore no resemblance to Mongolian Chicken.I appreciate the effort to offer GF options, but this place isn't executing the dishes well. The spices and sauces are off. Exceptional food. Wife used to live down the street so she'd go frequently now we live farther away but whenever in the area prioritize stopping there and getting food. Sonny the owner is one of the nicest most personable people on the planet making the visit there exponentially better. Definitely go here and eat you will love it and want to go back. Sonny don't ever stop being a great person. One of my favorite stops for two hankerings: "I don't feel like cooking tonight" and "great fresh cooked Asian would break my hangared mood". Black Bamboo has been a steadfast oasis of re-nourishment. Fast, friendly, accommodating, very popular, and for me close to home. Just order on-line, call, or stop by. The wait is painless. Having experienced many of their dishes the beef and broccoli on brown rice is my FAV FLAV!!!

Just placed and then simultaneously cancelled my order when I found out the price = quart of "House Special Soup" and an order of pork dumplings = over $30.00! Quite frankly, I'd be embarrassed to tell somebody that over the phone. I didn't have a copy of the menu or prices in front of me at time-- to the extent that it's accurate/updated online, anyway. I've eaten here in the past, and it was good--nothing special-- and it's been a while. Apparently, a long while, because while as they were always a little more pricey than other area Chinese restaurants but never this outrageous. I don't care if there's gold in those dumplings I am not paying that price. And, to add insult to injury, I would be picking it up. Can you imagine if someone were having it delivered, DoorDash, etc... you'd have to second mortgage your house to pay for it!

It’s 0-2 for me! It’s been awhile since I’ve ordered from these guys but I am not happy I got comfortable with this place agin. The first order was lo mein it had a burned taste to it. It was similar to the dark part of the toast - just burned. I was shredded it for that meal however, even the next meal I ordered was not good at all wings in the house rice the wings were too crunchy. I was confused as is this chicken or Or kettle barbecue chips ! Never again for me I’ll definitely will try butterfly’s out. So sad they definitely fell off!

The service at Black Bamboo is top notch, it's quick and the staff is generally friendly. The space is small so I typically will just get my food to go but there are a few chairs and tables available. The parking lot is small and street parking is limited. The food is not overly greasy and the veggies are fresh.
Have gotten take out here more than a few times over the years. Black Bamboo was touted as all the rage. I have found it to be nothing special. I rarely post like this, but happened to order take out tonight with the family. I simply wanted chicken fried rice. It was absolutely horrible! I don’t think I have ever had a worse quart of fried rice in my life! Zero flavor and some gamey pieces of “chicken”. Do yourself a favor, stick with Butterfly across the street or if you are willing to make the drive, order from Bamboo Asian Cuisine out in Farmington on route 4. They have a fantastic Chinese, Thai and sushi menu and the prices are much more affordable than that of Black Bamboo. We won’t be darkening Black Bamboo’s door ever again.

We ordered the steamer dumplings wasn't the best the dough was too thick $14 for only six we tried the hot /sour soup that was good. we ordered a quart they gave us a pint. we will try it again. the vegan food was always very good that we have ordered in the past.

Food is amazing, travelled all the way from the UK and it’s hands down the best Chinese food I’ve ever had! The owner Sonny is such a down to earth guy who clearly cares about his business which makes for a nice relaxed atmosphere!
