My husband and I aren’t vegan but the food from gmonkey is soogood you don’t have to be. The chili was DELICIOUS you can’t even tell it’s vegan! Definitely would recommend for anyone. It’s a MUST try!
Came across their truck outside of Middletown today. Absolutely delicious. My meat and potatoes teenager was wildly impressed as well. Worth every penny.
So happy to have a fully vegan place in the area. Food was alright. The cuisine style is outdated and reminds me a lot of early 2000's vegan food. Don't get me wrong- that's still delicious, but it does taste like what non-vegans expect vegan food to taste like. I got the chili cheese fries, bacon cheeseburger, and carrot cake. I was disappointed that the only fry option was sweet potato, and they are cut rather large. They weren't crispy, but that's to be expected when ordering chili cheese fries to-go. This dish ended up tasting like a sweet potato hash- which wasn't bad but wasn't what I was expecting. All of the food tasted "healthy" and a bit light on salt and flavor, but satiating. The burger bun (which I think they make in house) was a little dry, dense, and a bit too small for the burger. But I do appreciate the fact that they make almost everything in house. My favorite was the carrot cake. I'd return for the carrot cake and to maybe try other menu items. I really want to continue supporting this budding vegan businesses. I like G-monkey, mostly their bowls as opposed to their burgers. The quality is quite nice. It's a little pricey for a faster food place, but they make everything themselves (even the vegan cheeses, dressings and bread) and it's organic. So, it's understandable and nice. Their desserts are also really good.

Stumbled on this spot along a road trip that was passing through CT. Environment is welcoming, staff are nice, and the menu is extensive. All the food was yummy and had a fast food vibe while also being wholesome and minimally processed. A great find.

Hands down the best vegan place in the area. The burgers are outstanding and we love the Caesar salad. Their grilled cheese is also delicious.

I led a deprived childhood, deprived of fast food. I never ate a Big Mac or Whopper or Baskin-Robbins. A vegetarian since 1966, a vegan since 1970, & a whole foodist since 1977, my 1st fast food experience was 2 years ago at Plant City X, a dumbed-down version of its mothership, Plant City. PCX's plastic plants echo its food. More like Plastic City. Vegan food for the masses? Or fast food for vegans? More like fast food for fast foodists who happen to be vegans. Tainted by my PCX experience, my expectations for G-Monkey were low. Happily, I was proven wrong. Food at G-Monkey is as nutritious as it is delicious (except for the fries, which like all fried food are nutritionally nil). My favorites are Chickpea of the Sea & Curried Nut Pâté & the Burger (sans the bun). Taste is an ephemeral sensation. Nutrition is more enduring, as it provides good health. You want to promote veganism? Make yourself the picture of health. Don't monkey around with your food. Many all-veg eateries serve so much fried foods & mock meats & fried mock meats that you'd suspect they had joined a carnivore conspiracy out to rob vegans of their health. But not G-Monkey. If you're a history buff, read on. I first met G-Monkey's masterful chef, Mark, around 1989 when he was assistant chef at It's Only Natural. Soon after, he took the helm as its head chef. After 22 years at It's Only Natural (now called ION) in the middle of Middletown, Mark sought new horizons (perhaps Middle-earth?). In 2011, he and his wife Ami opened G-Zen, initially a Neo-ION. Since then, ION's menu plummeted nutritionally, while G-Zen's menu ascended into culinary vegan heaven G-Zen's every entrée was flavorful and often unique, if not invented by them, then perfected by them. Everything was delicious, mostly wholesome, muchly raw, always beautifully presented & graciously hosted. And all vegan. Though portions were small, nutritional standards except for fries were high. So were prices. Its affluent bourgeois clientele was a social class from which I, tho decadent, felt excluded. While one can be decadent without being affluent, to dine at G-Zen you needed to be both. Even millionaires have budgets. An early retiree, mine was constrained. Thanks to 4 more affordable all-veg cafés that opened nearer to me, 9 years ago I took a hiatus from G-Zen. The bad news: in the past 2 years, 3 of those cafés closed. The good news: at the same time, G-Zen morphed into a fast-casual affordable variation. Voilà, G-Monkey.
