Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

Usually a great place.. but I ordered the Reese’s peanut butter mudslide concrete and the cup was filled halfway and didn’t have any hot fudge. Looks like it was rushed.

I always order from Rita's off of DoorDash! This one particular time I order the Strawberry Lemonade which is my favorite! There were pieces of plastic in them! I sent pictures of it in my hand and son hand to DoorDash and called the store to inform them of the situation. I spoke with Ashley who told me to send pictures to her email which I did and I never heard anything back from her and i have ordered from there since this incident. This was the first time I had an issue with my order.

Great time for all ages. A wide variety of ice cream, Italian ice, and custard ice cream.

No silverware sent. I literally have none.

I recently moved to Hartford not too long ago from Manchester, and this is the best Rita’s I’ve ever ordered from. Though I’ve never been in the store myself yet, they have been super accommodating and sweet through DoorDash. The management team is very kind! If they don’t have something they will let me know as soon as I place the order. All in all, please order from them. You won’t regret it.

Me and my friend came because the one in Rocky Hill closed down, and the worker absolutely did not know what she was doing. We ordered and she stood there staring at us till we repeated it again saying again it’s what we wanted. When we asked for a sample she gave us the wrong flavor. When she went to put custard in the cup she got it everywhere and didn’t know how to swirl it so it’s spatted on the bottom. It was a Gelati but it had barely any custard on the bottom compared to my friends but we got the same thing. My friend got so much custard on her bottom of the cup and I got a tiny squirt cause she didn’t know how to work the machine. Then when she went to put the ice she got it all over the cup and didn’t pack it in so there were giant air pockets and barely any ice but I didn’t have the heart to correct her again. She went to put custard ontop of my friends and did an ok swirl so I was excited but when she did mine she put a tiny dollop, no swirl and barley any custard so I had to ask for more. Thought the entire process she kept looking at me smiling awkwardly like she didn’t know what was doing and was looking for my opinion. In the end I wanted to ask for cup covers but she already made so many mistakes I didn’t want to add more pressure.

It just doesn’t seem like she was well trained. She was nice but not efficient and I barely got what I asked for. I paid 6$ for a screwed up Gelati.

Rocky Hill was better.

Rita’s is truly like no other place I’ve ever been to. We drive 45 minutes just to come here for their ice, custard and happiness. Rita’s frozen custard is just amazing. It’s sweet, creamier and thicker than a regular soft serve ice cream. Their Italian ice is some of the best I’ve ever had. You really can’t go wrong with any of the flavors they have. They are all so good! I highly recommend the gelati, and have a couple different flavors of ice with it. My personal favorites are watermelon, chocolate covered strawberry,, strawberry lemonade and sour patch red. The sprinkles they have are really good too. Worth the trip, even if it’s an hour away. There are so many great restaurants in the area.
