Tasty food, but the service is lacking. My food came out wrong (the sever admitted it was wrong) and then she didn't key in a new entree so I had to wait 20 minutes before a new entree arrived. All of the other guests at my table were finishing up their food and they cleared everyone's plate as they put my fresh plate down. I felt very rushed. The service really took away from the dining experience.
Love this unique menu. Some of our party ate two appetizers while others opted for an entree. You can't go wrong with the corn spoonbread, it is worth the wait!
What an absolutely wonderful experience. The vibe in West Hartford is already great, but Union Kitchen was a little gem in the midst. We did the tasting menu with the wine pairing and loved every course. Upside down deviled eggs, locally made buratta with citrus salad, venison, charred broccoli, quail and dumplings, rice pudding...all delicious and the service outstanding! We will be back, and if you are looking for a special experience or date night - I highly recommend the chef tasting. It was perfection.
You are missing out...if you don't get over there! Wine group dinner night and we tried Union for the half price bottles on a Thursday night. We discovered some great new wines and they even have a fun option of trying to guess the wine. We started with the sweet corn spoon bread and the pork belly apps. The spoonbread came in a sm. cast iron pan and was hot and tasty and a terrific compliment to the pork belly which was a huge serving. Looked like a tenderloin and plenty to go around. Flavor was spot on. The menu was varied and super interesting and I was in a mood where everything sounded good so I told Janet, our super attentive waitress, chefs choice for my entree. Our entrees arrived in a perfectly timed manner. We had couple salmons dishes my friends raved about and each one cooked just the way they had asked for it, one cooked through the other med rare. One steak frites and one eggplant. Portions were plentiful and each dish was attractive and delish. The frites were a mountain of fries next to a gorgeous medium rare steak. No extra raves there but she was in the mood for steak and that what she got. Eggplant looked different rolled up in a bowl but the flavors were wonderful. But the last two entrees were the star of the night if you could imagine chicken being the star. It wasn't the biggest chicken from the farm but probably the tastiest. brick like flattened with a salty crispy skin sitting in a wonderfully flavorful miso broth which brought oohs and ahh to everyone who had to taste it. The cheesy grits were smooth and packed a jalapeño burst of flavor to it all. genius putting these all together for the star dish of the night. Great choice chef and well done! standing ovation from the wine ladies! Such unique options on your menu and flavors that just wake up your taste buds from the same ole flavors you are used to. We also shared the choc chip bread pudding and had mint chip ice cream!! with it. It was a little dry. We will definitely be back.
Amazing experience. Food overall quality vs quantity was exceptional! Our sever was attentive without being intrusive and allowed us to eat and enjoy the first brunch of the new year. Quite a first time experience and we look forward to our return.
From the time we sat down, we were taken by the place itself, the atmosphere, the very courteous weight staff and the food was expertly prepared. It was a great first experience for us, and we will be back.
I really enjoyed my visit to Union Kitchen. The place was empty when I went so service overall was prompt and efficient. Kyle, my server, was exceptional and provided top notch service throughout my visit. I started with spicy chicken wings with the trufallo sauce. think these wings were smoked. I like my wings grilled. They were good just not excellent. The house burger was very good but it wasn't big enough to justify price. The brioche bun was sweet and soft. The caramelized onions were delicious. The shoestring fries were great. How do you go wrong with shoestring fries? I had a drink from the bar but I forgot what it was. A lot of crushed ice and not a lot of alcohol. I was disappointed in this. Overall it was a fine early afternoon dining experience before my show

The ambiance was great, service was a bit slow and didn't check on our meals until we were done. French toast was crispy and pancakes were meh. May try again for another meal but not for brunch.

Food is so delicious! The attention to detail is impressive! Union Kitchen never disappoints!
Great place, great food, great service, cute decor, good music. The apple pear spritz was so good, shrimp and grits and eggs Benedict we delicious! Recommend.
Food was mediocre. The entrees were not hot, the cheese on the burger was not even melted, the steak came swimming in a mound of mayonnaise.
Menu was tough for some of our guests. The beet appetizer was good but I wish it had been served as a warm appetizer. Entrees took a long while to come out and some of our meals were cold or lukewarm. Liked that we could see the happenings on the street. Somewhat cold decor.
Incredibly slow service! The food was good but not amazing. I have no idea how they can claim to have a long wine list. It was quite limited.
