Allium is my new favorite restaurant in Westport! Although there were multiple ingredients on their menu that I had to google, they managed to create dishes that were elegant and finessed without feeling pretentious.
The pork belly appetizer was an impeccable experience: crispy exterior, tender and fatty interior, a hint of warmth from the spices, a dash of sweetness from the honey, a splash of acidity from the pluot (plum-like fruit) — It was a perfect harmony over a bed of hearty cranberry beans.
The halibut and summer squash entrees were fresh, mild, and well-balanced. We probably would have preferred to order two appetizers and share one entree, but there is a $10 charge to split entrees. This is stated on the menu, which is was thoughtful of them. Some restaurants will sneakily charge you on the bill.
I wasn’t as impressed by the crudités and dip as I had hoped given the way they source their ingredients. I thought the raw veggies were sort of average, and the ratio of dip to veg was too large. (Too much dip, not enough veg)
Overall, this spot is a gem. The service is great, the decor is intimate, and even the china is really beautiful. It surprised me how much the antique-like plates and silverware enhanced the meal for me!

Just got the smoked fish toast to eat on the train and although it was hard to eat with no cutlery lol it was soooooo tasty !! Such friendly staff too. Definitely coming back !
