This used to be our favorite restaurant but this week’s experience was very disappointing! My husband ordered the crab cakes as always for his appetizer and they were two tiny pieces with a teaspoon of sauce. My escargot was also disappointing compared to all previous visits. The Bronzino was tasteless served over One small ravioli! The filet was not the same quality and preparation as I have enjoyed so many times at this restaurant but the price was the same! The waiter had zero personality. We had to request and wait for a second dinner roll. He never returned to bring more Pellegrino as we required. We ordered the chocolate lava cake for dessert which takes considerable time to prepare and usually is suggested early by the server. Since he did not offer this earlier, we waited for our dessert, which was mediocre, until the restaurant was empty. I think we were ignored because we did not order alcohol but our our bill and generous tip was over $175. A total waste of time and money. Sad to say that this restaurant which was so precious to us for many years has been removed from our list of favorites to enjoy and to recommend. We will not return.

Very nice romantic little Italian Restaurant. High class service from extremely friendly staff. Wonderful food and dishes you don't normally see at other Italian Restaurants. Old world family feel, with a big smile.

The best Italian food this side of the pond..! Hands down the best!

The best of the best - a classic spot in Westport for many years and maintains its level of excellence and execution. Sitting down for a meal here is like stepping into the chefs private home - intimate and relaxed setting w him whipping up dishes only steps away. You cannot go wrong w anything on the menu whether it be the appetizers, pasta, or main course. The veal medallions are legendary! My only knock on the place would be the ambience category - quirky furnishings and decorations and strange Italian rock opera playing in the background. All in all a must try for anyone that is serious about fine dining.

A charm in the charming town of Westport! We stumbled upon this gem and immediately felt like we were transported to a European bistro. Delicious everything!!

Had a delicious meal , one of countless others I have had over the years. It is a very small intimate space but I always end up having friendly chats with the table next door . A favorite is the mussel appetizer with leeks and white wine . Tonight we tried different dishes , short rib - melt in your mouth tender , and salmon - delicious . Attentive staff , very gracious.

Small, intimate, Italian eatry that not only lives up to, but often exceeds it's reputation. Pricey, indeed, but worth every cent. Excellent wine list and service to complement the restaurants reputation.

I love to take my wife and friends to Da Pietro's. Excellent food and a European experience. Really fantastic.

the lunch was simply boring. This place used to be THE place for Italian food in the area. It is now run down and tired in appearance and taste

Pietro is the real deal. This man is an artist who uses flavors as his tools.

I wish I could report that Da Pietro's is aging well (It's been at the same spot for 33 years), but it is not. I have eaten at DP six or seven times over the past three years and it seems to be in a continual state of decline. The first few times were very good; the past few not good as I explain below. However, first, the good things: The staff is nice, even warm, and competent. The small space is actually cozy, and the sound volume is low, so that talking and hearing are not problems. The portion sizes are large, so if you're not ravenous you can go right to the main courses and still be satisfied. The bad: The menu has barely changed in years and it's old and tired and needs a new life. The food tastes like the chefs are on auto-pilot. To report last night's meal: I first had cheese ravioli and added (for $49.95) black truffles. This was overly salty and overcooked. The cost for the truffles is ridiculous as I regularly have these in NYC restaurants at half the cost, and more generous portions. Second, I had Scottish Salmon which, too, was overly salted and bathed in a heavy, almost glutenous mass of I-don't-know-what. Not tasty, thought at least the salmon was fresh and was a good-sized portion. Last I had a piece of cheesecake for desert. It was nice and light and tasty, but not enough to salvage the meal. My dining partner had a lobster bisque soup for starters, which I tasted to sample. It was like something out of a can. All in all, I will mourn the loss of what was once a good restaurant and now seems to need a rework. I will not return soon.

Wonderful restaurant for special moments and meals. Rather quaint dining area but perfect size for an intimate dining experience with someone special!

Intimate, lovely restaurant with great food The ambiance and food set Da Pietro's apart even in Westport's competitive restaurant scene. It's a great place for a romantic dinner for two or for a gathering of a small group of good friends. It seems that you can't go wrong with anything that is on the menu, and the service is impeccable. Members of our party had the chicken, the salmon, and the yellow fin tuna -- all perfectly prepared. Also unusual: it's possible to hold a conversation with your dinner companions without shouting. It's small, so reservations are a must.

I don't really understand why reviewers would give 4 stars to this unique and wonderful restaurant. We just celebrated our anniversary there, and the food and atmosphere couldn't have been better. We had come from a freezing day of shopping and a movie (ordinary world)--only to walk into this lovely old-world dining room, so warmly welcoming and so beautifully decorated--a gem! It felt as if we had been transported to a very special place in Italy. I am a very long-time resident of this area, had eaten ar DaPietro's for lunch many years ago. Somehow I had neglected it for the last number of years, trying out many of the new arrivals. Well, none of the newbies compare with this amazing place! I had heard that the restaurant might soon close (which saddened me), and so it was the choice for our important evening. May I say ahead of time that I am skilled in the kitchen, have cooked since childhood, (have 1500 cookbooks on a variety of shelves in my kitchen, have studied with Marcella Hazan, and have taught bread baking at an earlier period of my life--so I'm pretty particular about food.) OK, on to THIS food. I had a wonderful glass of pinot noir and we ordered an appetizer of absolutely delicious, stuffed baby eggplant to share. For mains, my husband chose the salmon (perfectly cooked), came with crisp-tender veggies and a small risotto. He loved it! But I had the pièce de ré·sis·tance, the roast duck! Roast duck is usually a disappointment in restaurants--dried out and tough. To the contrary, this dish arrived so artfully arranged, perfectly crisp and browned on the outside, but tender within (enormous portion), and the cherry sauce was the perfect foil. There were also the tender-crisp veggies and a huge mound of mashed potatoes, which I couldn't finish. For dessert we shared a delicate cheesecake with our coffee. I couldn't eat another morsel, but was actually sorry to have to leave this magical place. Oh, I forgot to mention that the whole of the service was so good-natured and solicitous, something one misses in this brusque world of today. We cannot afford to eat there too regularly, but will definitely choose it for our next occasion. I've heard it's probable that the chef-owner will want to retire soon, but I'm wishing that he won't!!
