I have been to Kawa Ni at least 11 times and have never had service this horrible. Mel was completely rude and lacked basic customer service the minute we walked in the door. We walked in at 4:05 (the only people in the restaurant) and were immediately met with “do you have a reservation” when we said “no, can we sit at the bar” it was met with a “yeah” and an eye roll. glasses were slammed down and we felt rushed to order. honestly we felt neglected with remarks from her as “are you done”, “we ready to order now?”. she seemed fed up with customers choosing to sit at the bar. i even overheard her talking rudely to other customers including a “i’m assuming you don’t have a reservation since you just sat down at the bar” she had an attitude from the moment we walked in until we left. i have come here when it has been slammed and when it has been completely dead and this service was the worst i have had. I know a lot of current and past staff and have never experienced the type of service Mel gave us. honestly disappointing, this is such a hidden gem in westport and my love for this restaurant has been honestly ruined.

The food here is phenomenal, we had dumplings, crab rangoon, mushroom fried rice and the kung pao chicken. Everything was so tasty, all the right favors! The staff was nice, there’s auto-gratuity, which is the only downside I’d say.

Absolutely loved this restaurant! All the food was perfect to share so you got to taste a number of dishes - service was amazing too.
Food was fantastic service was good! Love the fact that the food was different and a little lit of the box! Well done
the absolutely best chicken wings and crab fried rice great waiter and overall great welcoming service can't wait to return
Excellent, excellent food. Appreciate the server coursed everything out for us so we could take our time enjoying every dish. Tom yum straciatella was a stand out - very clever.
Had a fantastic meal last night and we’ll be back again soon. Broccoli has no business being this good! Ramen was excellent.

Food is really great, service not so much. Would definitely do a to-go order next time. I should also mention I default tip 20-25% and if the food/service is exceptional will sometimes tip far beyond that if it feels warranted. They include a 20% service charge on all meals.. I actually like the idea in theory, but it truly felt like everyone from the host to the waitress couldn’t care less and I’m assuming part of it is because of the guaranteed tip which is a shame.

It was ok. The addictive Cabbage was fine to start. The roasted clams were a real shame. The topping had a weird too soft texture and there was too much of it covering the clam meat. The swordfish bao was very very good. The crab fried rice was tasty but I couldn't taste the crab. The ramen noodles were not springy and the broth was just ok.
The service was prompt and perfect. the waiter even brought out a perfect pescatarian menu for my friend. Very nice people here.
Edit: I forgot to mention, the food is probably perfect 10/10 if you're accustomed to salty food.

Everything here was so good. Every single plate. Wow. We stoped by on our road trip from nyc to Vermont and this will now be our stop 🙌

The food is incredible. The bar has a nice vibe with great selections. Every dish we had was unique and delicious. I wish I lived closer so I could eat here all the time.

Food was delicious and creative. The music seemed out of sync with w/ the type of food offerings, the time of day (6 pm) and the small space. It was also VERY loud. The a/c was blasting and it was cold where we sat. The air blowing right on my friend and I. Unfortunately might not return due to the ambience
The food here is outstanding. Great menu. Fun to try a lot of things. The hamachi was a must! Our server could have been a little better - very flippant when we asked for guidance on how much food to order. Music was good except for one death metal song oddly thrown into playlist and blasted. But overall it was a great experience and would definitely go back.
Excellent food and fabulous cocktail! Everything is unique and delicious!
