First time coming tonight and the food was delicious! The sushi is incredible and well worth the prices. It will definitely be our new sushi go to spot!

As a devoted patron of Sakura for over twenty years, it's with regret that I must inform you that our family will no longer patronize your restaurant. Our dedication to Sakura has been solidified by its storied history within the community and the numerous positive experiences we've shared within its walls. However, our last visit was disheartening, prompting us to reconsider our support for what has been a local landmark. This letter aims to reach you, the owner, to address concerns regarding the customer service at Sakura, particularly concerning the person we encountered at the front desk, who also serves as the manager. It's essential to reassess her approach, as the rudeness we experienced is not acceptable by any standard, especially within the welcoming community of Westport. The core of our dissatisfaction stemmed from an incident involving a significant delay. Despite having a reservation for 6 PM, we waited 45 minutes for the hibachi chef to arrive. This waiting period is challenging for any family, particularly one with young children anticipating a birthday celebration. Our frustration grew when we noticed tables seated after us beginning their meals ahead of us.When we expressed our concerns to the manager at the front desk, her response was absolutely dismissive, exacerbating our frustration. Such indifference and lack of concern for customer satisfaction were disheartening. We waited and waited more.It became evident that our seating was deliberately delayed in an attempt to accommodate additional guests with a later reservation, clearly prioritizing the restaurant's convenience over the customers' experiences.Enough was enough. We settled the bill for what we had consumed and exited the restaurant. This incident was particularly concerning as it involved the manager, who should be setting a high standard for loyal customers. The culmination of these issues has led to our decision to cease our patronage of Sakura. What was intended as a celebratory occasion turned into a disappointing experience, overshadowing a moment meant for joy and celebration.I hope this letter encourages a reflection on Sakura's service practices, that are otherwise outstanding. Your establishment has the potential to offer wonderful experiences to its guests, but it is crucial that everyone, especially those in management positions, treats customers with the respect and courtesy that is expected.

Have been coming here for over 30yrs and food and service is great. Only issue is that I have recently become disabled and there is no accessible bathroom. I will now need to forgo one of my all time favorites because of this issue. :(

I absolutely love everything about this restaurant. I love the hibachi and the chefs energy and I love sitting back where it's quiet by the fireplace. They are so accommodating. I can request my sushi rolls be made the way I like them with no questions asked. The servers and the hostess are always super friendly. I would gladly bring my friends and family from out of state here to enjoy the sushi. The food is always fresh and the environment is always friendly and welcoming.

The food was gross and the worst part was the noodles they were terrible. The steak and chicken were very, very dry and tasted terrible. The food came out around 45 minutes after we got there.

This is a popular hibachi place in Westport. Definitely call ahead for reservations on the weekends. The noodles are thinner than typical hibachi noodles which I enjoyed as it didn't feel as filling. The food was well cooked but overall lacked a bit of flavor. The side sauces they provide helped give the food more of a kick. The portion sizes were fair for the price and staff was attentive. The non hibachi seating areas are quite large so if desired, you could always order hibachi to a table and skip the show.

Horrible service and employees. We made a reservation for 7pm for 5 people. We arrive at 7pm, and we're told it's going to be a few minutes. Ten minutes later, a party of 10 people come in, wait 5 minutes, and are taken to a table. While we're still waiting like idiots. I complain, and the Asian woman at the front desk starts yelling at me, telling me that I didn't check in with her even though I checked in with the employee standing right next to her. The food is good, but not worth the hassle and wait. I wish they would honor reservations and order of arrival. And not have rude people working there. I would give one star, but my son loves this place so we compromised. I still think the front desk woman was too rude in yelling at me because I complained.

If I could choose 0 stars for service I would have. Cecilia was awful. From the very beginning she pushed us to order more food, more drinks, more expensive menu items. Enough is enough! Then she insisted we change our hibachi steak to hibachi filet. Maybe it is a better cut of meat but I prefer sirloin. So to be made to feel uncomfortable and cheap was unacceptable. To top it off I overheard her complaining about our family to the other staff in the kitchen because we were being “cheap” and taking up her table. Never have I felt so berated by a person who is being paid to provide service. It’s a shame since everything else about the restaurant was great. My family and I just moved from Manhattan and heard great things about Sakura being a “Westport Staple”. Management/ ownership needs to take a serious look at who they have working for them.

A friend of mine and I were here on a Tuesday evening in the rain with 2 kids. Some pros: entertainment for kids. They have light up ice cubes, chef made us some balloon animals at the end, very cute stuff. My Uber driver said the restaurant has been open for 30 years and has changed hands, but decor remains the same. Ha! Food was decent. I'm not into having someone throw food in my mouth but the performance was good. Service took forever tho- we definitely had a new waiter, but he did eventually get us all the sides that came with our meals. Fried rice and noodles were 100% soy sauce flavored, shrimp and chicken were cooked with minimal seasoning. Had to use the side sauces for any flavor. Adequate food and experience overall. I'd come back for the kids - they really liked looking at the parakeets and playing with their balloon swords afterwards!

If I could give "Service" ten stars, I would! We usually sit in the bar to eat and the food has always been stellar. Sagun, who generally takes care of us in the bar, couldn't be more professional, knowledgeable and awesome at what he does. Sakura has been a staple in Westport for decades, it's a wonderful place to dine!

Tonight we celebrated my son's birthday with a large group at Sakura. The food and service were wonderful. The chef was lovely, talented, and fun. The wait staff deserve a special shout out for going above and beyond to make sure we never waited long to order, for our many drink orders, for keeping things moving without feeling rushed, and for a delightful rendition of the "happy birthday" song, all done with a smile on their face and a happy attitude. Bravo to them! And finally a thank you to the manager, who was clearly having a busy, hectic, and stressful night and nevertheless helped made our child's 11th birthday awesome.
