Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. I found the menu to be a bit limiting, but it was a nice vibe for a casual birthday dinner. The one thing I hated, however, was the house dirty martini...worst thing I've ever tasted. As someone who loves a good dirty martini, this was awful. The house brine sounded interesting, but what was delivered tasted like cheese in a glass...stick to another cocktail or a wine to be safe.

I usually like the whelk. I was disappointed in the food this time.I ordered the lobster orchiaetta. Lobster was not at all fresh, and very chewy; like it was over cooked. I didn't care for the sauce much either. Our appetizer of smoked trout dip came with old-fashioned white bread. That was a big turn off and I would never eat white bread. We had to order a side of raw vegetables which cost extra.

The Whelk continues to be a delight. New menu items are even better than before, even the home made brine for dirty martinis is incredible. Innovation at its highest to date, I'm making a weekly reservation because it's just that good.

One of Westport's best. The food keeps getting even better. One of our families favorites.

I've always loved The Whelk, so was happy to see it was now offering brunch. Really interesting, creative menu and everything we ordered was delicious - fresh, perfectly cooked and presented. Highly recommend!

Always delicious and inventive food. Great preparations and fresh ingredients. Seafood, Oysters and Crudos are the thing - but there are plenty of options for those who don't want seafood, Underrated great wine list too.

Had a great experience at The Whelk. The food was stellar and we were visited by the bartender, Nico, who told us about all the thought that went into his very delicious cocktails and then surprised us with one of his creations at the end of our meal. 10/10

The Whelk is always a favorite memorable meal for me. The deviled eggs with fried oysters just melt in your mouth with such good combination of flavor and texture. The Little Gem salad never disappoints. I tried something new in the menu for me- the Halibut over Puréed celery root which was delicious!

We were greeted promptly with a warm welcome. Thee service was attentive. The vibe was upbeat, relaxed and yet sophisticated. The Frogger cocktails are always my favorite and did not disappoint-So refreshing! The deviled eggs with fried oysters on top are always a must- order for us.... like biting into a bit of heaven. The roasted oysters were delicious! We shared the half roasted chicken with polenta and a side of roasted broccoli with tahini sauce. Ooh lala soo good!

Every bite was delicious. The fritters are amazing. The salad with bib lettuce is outstanding.

The place was nice but the parking was a nightmare. When they say “small plates “ they aren’t kidding, like 8” for a meal. At that price it was not worth it. I left hungry after spending $100 for 2 people. I was also surprised at the tiny menu. Not many choices and the food was only mediocre at best.

You pay for what you get..no bargains here and not the best ever cuisine but just about par for the course..said another way, if I was in the area okay/sure, would I go out if my way to visit, “no”

Used to come here as a favorite date-night destination, but haven’t been back since you took Norman’s Lobster butter off the menu. Is is ever coming back? (Or can you send me the recipe?)

Haven't been to The Whelk since the first few years it was opened as we always found it a little fussy. However, so enjoyed our meal last night and super happy we finally went back. Food was amazing (a little over salted) and the menu is fresh and varied and caters to all dietary needs. Will be definitely be going back and highly recommend!
