I used to enjoy Viva Zapatas, so I chose it for my birthday dinner this year. Big mistake. We were seated quickly and I ordered a Tamarindo margarita right after our drinks were taken. Chips and bean dip came out—great—but the margarita I was craving never showed. Halfway through my meal, I had to ask about it. Meanwhile, the staff was busy singing happy birthday to what felt like every other table. My boyfriend had even told our waitress it was my birthday. When I finally got my margarita, it was alongside the check. I figured they might still sing—especially since the waitress told us “no rush.” When I brought up the missed birthday mention, she said she thought my boyfriend was joking. Really? So now I’m supposed to beg for a birthday song? No thanks. The food was forgettable, the service was flat-out bad, and the experience was a letdown. I might be back someday, but not to celebrate anything.

Staff are super friendly, and the inside is a beautiful rustic home with local decor throughout.

They start each table off with chips and home made salsa, then we ordered the enchilada, steak nachos, and burritos.

The home made salsa is amazing, and they sell it to go as well.

The nachos could have used some additional toppings beyond the steak and cheese, but the steak itself was deliciously seasoned & the small size was great for a starter.

The mains were super filling and I loved their Spanish rice & refried beans.

For libations I got their house margarita, which was the best I’ve had in a long time. So good that we got a quart to take home.

Vegetarian options: There were a handful of vegetarian options for starters and mains

Parking: Large lot in the rear of the building, narrow driveway

We lived in CT for years and went to Viva often and loved it. We were traveling through the area and decided to stop for dinner - the quality of food has gone downhill and the service was poor. Disappointing but probably the last time we will be at Viva.

Insanely expensive, average Mexican food in a beautiful location. Shrimp quesadillas had hardly any shrimp, taco salad conversely was all beef no salad. $180 for 3 people

Very disappointed tonight. This is our 24th year coming here and today was awful. Food was so bad we could't eat it. The only good things were the Margaritas (best around)and our server he was awesome. $200.00 tab with tip for a few churros and a couple of margaritas. Won't be back. It was also very empty when it used to be packed no matter when we went. So sad, end of an era for us.

The food had completley fallen off — such a shame cause this place used to be a Westport staple! Hope they wake up!
