I came into Winsted to attend an event and I have never been back to ABC pizza in over two decades. One of the item on my agenda was to grab dinner here. I have always held their pizza at the highest level and for all other pizza places to beat! In over two decades I have never found anybody.
As I walked in and looked around, the place has not changed one bit at all since I started going there since the 80’s. They still had the jukebox since the 80’s sitting in the back wall. The place had the same great smell of Greek pizza! The server working there was just very nice!
We ordered a large sausage, pepper and mushroom pizza. They bought it out quickly and I was so excited to get the first bite of the pizza that I was craving for and what I had remembered.
Overall it was delicious! However, they did change a little bit of the recipe. The crust was thicker and had a harder crunch to it. I loved it when the crust was thinner and was not as crunchy. I had always love their ground sausage with fennel seeds and the unique flavors of spices they put into it. This time the flavor was similar but they took the fennel seeds which was a big disappointment for me. I think they used leaner cuts as it was not as greasy. The sauce and cheese didn’t change and were spot on.
So I was partially disappointed as it wasn’t the same exact pizza that I had remembered from a long time ago but I still give them five stars for still being a very good pizza. Abc has a good following of customers who also said that their subs/grinders still remain to be one of the best.
I highly recommend for you to try this place for good Greek salad, subs, and for their pizza.

Called ahead for 2 hot ham and cheese grinders, 1 ham, provolone with lettice, tomato and mayo, 1 ham and provolone ONLY!! $25 for both. Kinda of high but you know how it is. Got home, opened them, the plain ham and cheese was covered in lettuce and tomato, the cheese came of when my husband scraped it off and mine had lettuce, tomato and mayo PLUS onions, so many onions, and peppers. This is not rocket science and ABC Pizza has been around at least 25 years. We called to inform them that both grinders were wrong. They offered to remake them but they are in Winsted, we love in Torrington, 10 miles away. They offered NOTHING else. No refund, no replacement at a future date, no apology. I paid with cash so no credit card receipt. $25 just gone. Never again. Make sure you check your food before leaving this establishment. Extremely disappointed. Extremely.

I think I had heaq heard it was sold to another family or another part of the family that used to run it. I have to say the food seems a little different. It's not quite the same taste that it used to be, I still taste pretty good I have noticed people saying that the pizza is different, it is slightly different but same style. The prices have increased quite significantly. With that being said I probably won't go there as often but that's okay overall it's pretty similar to what it used to be and I think that's a good thing. At least the place isn't closed down and they are keeping or at least trying to keep to the style that it always was!
