Updated: Back in town again and I had to stop by. The Tuna Tar Tar, Pan Fried Grouper,
and Beet & Citrus Salad with Steak was so good! Apparently this is from Chef Carlos’ new menu. Our Old Fashioned and the Hot Watermelon Margarita were amazing and our server Demi was the cherry on top. Will be back!
Stopped by for Sunday brunch today, and wow! Had pistachio martinis, tuna tostada, and chicken tikka masala as well as shrimp scampi for our mains. Everything was delectable. If I lived in town, I’d be a regular especially with the amazing service from Tyler. Was able to enjoy the patio with my pup. Will be back!

Excellent food and service. Scoring a 3 for atmosphere ONLY BECAUSE we sat out on the patio which is right on a very busy street with dumptrucks and tractor trailers passing by pretty consistently. Makes for a very loud dinner experience. Remodel looks great though, but they should've considered moving the outdoor seating to the back of the building. Otherwise, everything was perfect!
Had a nice meal with my wife in the booth at the bar. Bartender was great and the food was okay(I got the scallops). I expected more from what I had heard about this place, but I did hear that the ownership had changed

We went to Good News Restaurant & Bar in Woodbury for Mother’s Day with my wife and mother, especially because it had been renovated and was under new management. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the expectations or the price. At about $75 per person, the food was good but not exceptional.
Service was slow from the start — long waits just to get water, drinks, and eventually place our order. Our server also didn’t seem to know much about how certain dishes were prepared. We asked for details to make sure my son would eat the appetizer we were considering, but what came out was completely different from what was described. Had we known, we wouldn’t have ordered it.
Cocktails were another disappointment. The craft cocktail list wasn’t very enticing, and the ones we tried just weren’t good.
We were hoping the renovation and new management meant a fresh, elevated experience, but it fell short. For us, this was a one‑and‑done.

It was my first time back since the new ownership, and wow—it's different in all the right ways. Yes, the menu has changed. Yes, the ambiance and interior feel totally different. But the food? A different kind of fantastically delicious, and clearly made with care. You can tell the kitchen is genuinely excited about what they're putting on the plate—and it shows. This isn't an attempt to recreate the old Good News Café. It's something new that stands on its own. I actually looked up mid-bite during brunch and said, "Okay... this is really good." And the portions? Generous. If you haven't been back yet, go.
I highly recommend this restaurant...very good ambiance, variety of food for every taste and terrific service. Would not hesitate to go there again.
Although we had reservations, it was the middle of the week, restaurant was mostly empty, so reservations were probably unnecessary. So it was extremely quiet and service was excellent. I'm not sure how the sound level and service will change on a crowded evening. I'm hoping not much since the ambience, service, and food quality were all excellent. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by our server, seated, and provided menus. I ordered the short ribs and my wife ordered the short ribs grilled cheese. I promise, we are not a family of short rib fanatics ... that was just a coincidence. Anyway, my wife's sandwich was scoffed down and she said it was excellent. My meal was delicious. The boneless short ribs were fall-apart tender with a delicious gravy. It was served with yummy mashed potatoes, topped with crispy onions, and crispy Brussels sprouts. I'm not usually a Brussels Sprouts fan, but these were delicious. My serving size was huge and it looked like I'd be eating leftovers for dinner the next night. I asked our server to wrap up the leftovers with a special request for additional yummy gravy. She quickly returned with my doggy-bag and two containers of the short ribs gravy. No dessert was ordered (we were so full) so I cannot comment on that. I'm sure whatever we would have ordered would have been excellent based on the quality of our main dishes, but that'll have to wait for our next trip to Good News. We will definitely be back. You should too. I highly recommend it.

We had not been here in a while. We chose it in part because it is open on Monday night. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The cocktails were yummy. The food was great. The prices are reasonable. The waitress was pleasant and competent and efficient. We LOVED the background music which very much enhanced the ambiance (fair warning that we are in our 60s so younger people might view it as too old school - but it worked for us and the volume was perfect to be able to hear clearly but not drown out conversation). Worth a trip.
First time under new owners. Impressed with food and service even on New Year's Eve. It might be difficult to manage, but they need a place for coats, especially in winter. We'll be back.
Rebecca was our waitress and she made us feel welcome and so comfortable. It was a family gathering and we had a wonderful meal.
This was our first time going and everything was great - food was outstanding and our waitress was very good. Will definitely be back
We were a party of three and very disappointed with the quality of the food compared to when Carol Peck owned this restaurant.
