This venue has changed. I've had so many good memories here from years past, but... Constant overselling and a change in staff has ruined this place. Be careful.

Why do I have to get back in security/entry line with a stamp after smoking literally right out front & the security insinuated I "could've bought something on the corner" while I stood right outside the building after checking with staff for a smoking section????

Response to the owner:
I understand policy however I truly did not appreciate the insinuation/comment from your staff about me going to purchase drugs or engage in other illegal behavior before trying to reenter the building when I didn't leave from the front of the building and quickly had a cigarette.

It was my first real concert and I had a great experience! The venue is intimate but well laid out. The staff is all incredibly friendly. It was intense being at the edge of the mosh pit as a small female but the pit crew did an excellent job making me feel safe and keeping the crowd in check. Bartenders were attentive and efficient and they always had lots of cold water available. 10/10.

Went for a concert and loved how the venue was so personal! Seats on the top floor and right by the stage on the first. Bar service was fast and the merch vender was very efficient! Parking across the venue and there was a pretty long line to get in. We were in the rain too, only thing would be to make sure to check the weather before you go wait in line lol.

1. Don't drink in the line, they'll stamp you and you cant buy drinks inside.
2. Follow all of the rules online for things to bring inside as far as purses/fanny packs go
3. The parking lot across the street, their machines screens are broken - HOWEVER IF YOU TAP YOUR CARD IT STILL WORKS. They just charge you $20 regardless of how long you park.
4. There are two floors, the upstairs gets hot just FYI.
5. HAVE A BLAST!

If you like here, check out The Anthem as well :)

If you like Marc (featured artist in my photos) then YouTube Marc Rebillet Club 930 and you'll find me and more Marc Videos (among other things)

A true staple to the area!

I've been coming to the 930 Club for decades and it's my standard for judging other venues. I've seen so may different musical acts there. Most recently, Marc Rebillet

As a veteran of the 9:30 Club since 1981-82, it's truly impressive to see how they've shaped the music scene in DC over these last 44 years. I've seen perhaps hundreds of shows at 9:30 and I.M.P. venues over the years. Building a brand organically through I.M.P. managing a variety of great venues, not incidiously trying to take over the world like LiveNation. Their crown jewel, The Anthem, is a more than adequate revenge for the backhand deal that resulted in Fillmore Silver Spring, but that's another story.
It's sorta funny to hear people wax nostalgic about the 'old 9:30 Club', which was a truly dungeonous, smelly, smoky cavern, in what was a no man's land of post-1969-riots DC, where we'd bounce between 9:30 and DC Space to see what would become iconic bands from the early days of new wave, punk & hardcore, surf, funk, Go Go, jazz, blues, LGBT, country, rockabilly, folk, novelty and anything experimental happening at the time. But, its grungy character was pretty well covered in the 9:30 Book, if you're lucky enough to find one (please re-publish it). The fact that even some of the biggest names will do surprise shows at the 9:30 is a testament to its legendary status. It still feels a bit like an extended family that manages and staffs their venues. The same cannot be said about the aforementioned promoter, whose venues I attend VERY sparingly (sorry, u can't talk about 9:30 history w/o a dig at LiveNation). Where else could you have seen Tony Bennett one night and Fugazi the next?

Great, small, intimate venue... But wish etiquette of patrons was better... Went to a concert, with a very heavy % of guys... I was at the balcony, surrounded by short girls... with most guys, over 6 ft tall with their male friends all along the balcony, who they kept a good amount a space from... meaning majority of the ladies, could not see. You had to move around. Even standing on stairs, short ladies could not see over all these tall guys. If they would just move a little closer to their friend, someone could get in... But it was still enjoyable.

Watched Marc Broussard perform here in April...it was a great show, but I wish there was more menu options.

Been going to shows here for 15+ years and it’s my favorite venue.

The space is well thought out, the staff is A1, and bands love to play here! I’ve seen some amazing shows because the artists love performing here.

Forever love the 9:30 Club 🖤

I went to the 9:30 club yesterday for a Disco Night event. I was very surprised how low effort it was.
First, they didn't have a coat check station open for November. People had to carry heavy fall and winter jackets (and dance with them) all night, or risk them getting stolen. There is no way a venue of this size and reputation couldn't have had one person working coat check for a night.
Overall, people working that night specifically were really passive aggressive to relatively normal questions. It's a bit surprising, since I have been to this venue before for concerts and people were very nice despite working in a loud/stressfull environment.
I might recommend going to the 9:30 club for concerts specifically, but not these smaller events. Obviously the level of care is not the same.
